Her home was a welcoming place where coffee was always “On”. She helped in the barn, when she could, and made sure that everything was spotless. She had a little spoon that was always in the corner of her mouth that she would put in the corner of the cleaning cloth so she could really get into the corners. She enjoyed her trips back to Holland after she semi-retired. Her siblings and friends over there still dear to her.
The last 15 years were spent at Caressent Care in Listowel after suffering a terrible stroke. She regained a lot of her mobility but was in need of full time care. The staff at Caressent Care were an integral part in Ria living until the beautiful age of 84. Lots of bingo, blackjack were part of her life, she sure enjoyed those games. Ria was a blessing; her family was blessed.
As per her wishes, a private family funeral service will be held. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Listowel. Donations in memory of Ria may be made to Listowel Memorial Hospital.
