🌻 A New Season Begins 🌻

Today, backpacks are packed, lunches are made, buses are rolling, and routines begin again.

To the students, parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, EAs, bus drivers, custodians, office staff, administrators—and everyone who helps get our kids where they need to be—here’s to a wonderful new school year. šŸ’›

The sunflower field reminds us that life comes in seasons. One season ends, another begins…and every new season brings another chance to learn, grow and bloom. 🌻

Thank you to all our guests who made our sunflower season so special. Now it’s time to turn the page and see what this next season will bring.

Happy first day back! Grow where you’re planted. šŸŒ»šŸ“š

When we think of Labour Day, we often think of the last long weekend of summer, cottages, campfires, barbecues and getting ready to head back to school.

But Labour Day carries a much deeper message.

It reminds us of generations of people who stood together and believed that life should not be only about work. People deserve time to live, too.

And maybe that is a message many of us still need to hear.

This summer, there was a lot of work behind the beauty you saw at Kadylack Farm. Seeds were planted. Paths were crested. Signs were made. Weeds were pulled. Grass was mowed. The store was filled. Porta-potties were delivered. Scavenger hunts were checked. Guests were welcomed. And thousands of footsteps made their way through our sunflower field. 🌻

We worked hard — and we loved it.

But now the field is quiet.

The signs have come down. The photo opportunities have been packed away. The sunflowers are moving into their next season.

And perhaps we should, too.

Nature doesn’t apologize for resting.

A sunflower doesn’t keep blooming because it feels guilty about stopping. It grows, it blooms, it gives everything it has — and then it moves peacefully into its next season.

Maybe Labour Day is a beautiful reminder that our worth isn’t measured by how busy we are.

There is a season for working hard.
There is a season for accomplishing.
There is a season for giving.

And there is also a season for putting down the tools, looking around and saying:

ā€œThat was good. I did enough. Now it is time to rest and enjoy some time with friends.ā€

So this Labour Day weekend, whether you’re working, relaxing, cleaning up after a storm, sitting around a campfire, spending time with family or simply enjoying a quiet moment, remember:

Work matters.
Rest matters.
And YOU matter beyond the work you do. ā¤ļø

The field has taught me many things this summer, but perhaps this is one more lesson worth carrying with us:

🌻 Even the sunflowers know when it’s time to rest.

Happy Labour Day weekend from Kadylack Farm.
May you be proud of the work you’ve done — and give yourself permission to enjoy the life you’ve worked so hard to build. šŸŒ»ā¤ļø

People have asked if the sunflowers are okay. We were not hit. Our hearts go out to everyone with damage after that storm. Trees down, no, power, flooding, branches everywhere, crops damaged, property to repair… and hours—or days—of cleanup ahead. šŸ’›

As I looked around today, I thought about one of the messages we shared in the sunflower field:

ā€œYou can’t always control what happens around you, but you can choose how you move through it.ā€

And some days, that is easier to read on a sign than it is to actually live.

It can be pretty hard to talk about gratitude when you’re staring at a mess you didn’t create and work you certainly didn’t ask for.

Maybe today gratitude doesn’t mean being thankful for the storm.

Maybe it means being thankful for the neighbour who shows up with a chainsaw.
The friend who sends a message to check in.
The person who helps lift a branch.
The hydro crews, first responders and workers putting things back together.
The reminder that when life gets messy, we don’t always have to clean it up alone.

The sunflower field taught me that storms will come. Some flowers bend. Some lose petals. Some get knocked right over.

But when the storm passes, we help each other stand again. 🌻

So if you’re exhausted, frustrated or overwhelmed by what Mother Nature left behind, give yourself some grace.

You don’t have to be thankful for the storm.

Just keep looking for the good people standing beside you after it. šŸ’›

Thinking of everyone cleaning up today. Stay safe, help where you can, and remember—we’re stronger when we weather the storms together. šŸŒ»šŸ’›

🌻 Sometimes What’s Blocking the View Becomes the View 🌻

My thoughts today came from a conversation I was having with Wanda about the beautiful cards she had been selling in our store.

As we chatted, I mentioned something I’ve been noticing in the field.

The only sunflowers still blooming are many of the pollenless varieties—the very sunflowers that, when the field was open, sometimes seemed almost… in the way.

They were tall. They weren’t blooming yet. People would walk into the field surrounded by gorgeous yellow blooms, and there stood these big green plants, blocking the view and seemingly doing absolutely nothing.

But they weren’t doing nothing from my welcome table.

They just weren’t ready yet. 🌻

And now?

They are astonishing.

Deep burgundy sunflowers. Different shades of yellow. Fluffy little Teddy Bear sunflowers. Colours and shapes that stand out even more beautifully now because everything around them has finished blooming.

And it made me think about life.

Sometimes the very thing that feels like it is blocking our happiness may actually be something that is still growing.

A delay.
A disappointment.
A closed door.
A change we didn’t want.
A season we don’t understand.

Maybe we don’t always need to see what’s blocking us as something standing in our way.

Maybe sometimes it’s simply not in bloom yet.

Today, those sunflowers that once blocked the view have become the view. ā¤ļøšŸŒ»

So whatever feels like it is standing between you and your happiness today, I hope someday soon you look at it differently and realize that something beautiful was growing there all along.

Some things just bloom later. And sometimes, they are worth the wait.

Have a beautiful day, everyone. May whatever feels like it’s blocking your joy today surprise you by becoming part of your joy tomorrow. šŸŒ»šŸ’›

The sky doesn’t have to be blue for us to find something bright.

Sometimes, it’s the smallest things that bring a little light into our day—a kind word, a good cup of coffee, a song that makes us smile, a hug, a beautiful flower, or simply a moment when we stop and think, Life is good.

Those little moments are called glimmers—tiny sparks of goodness that bring us joy, peace, gratitude, or hope. ✨

And the more we notice the good, the more good we seem to find. Positivity has a beautiful way of creating more positivity.

So even if today feels a little cloudy, look for your sunshine. šŸŒ»šŸ’›

✨ What was your glimmer today?
Share it in the comments—your little bit of sunshine might just become someone else’s glimmer too. šŸ’›

Today felt different in the sunflower field.

As Steve took the bales away and I walked the paths taking down the signs, I couldn’t help but think about closure.

For weeks, this field was filled with bright sunflowers, laughter, conversations, photographs, healing, encouragement and thousands of footsteps. Today, piece by piece, we began putting it all away.

And maybe life is a little like that too. ā¤ļø

We go through seasons. We open doors, we pour our hearts into something, we grow, we make memories… and eventually, some doors need to close.

But closing a door doesn’t mean what happened behind it is gone. We take the lessons, the memories, the people and the growth with us into whatever comes next.

So today, I’m not looking at tearing down the field with sadness. I’m looking at it with gratitude. What a season! What a gift. What incredible people we met along the way.

To every single person who walked our paths, read a sign, shared a story, brought a friend, laughed, cried, took a picture or simply stood quietly among the sunflowers — THANK YOU. šŸŒ»šŸ’› You became part of the story of this sunflower walk story.

The sunflower season may have closed its door, but the story certainly isn’t over.

Stay tuned for more posts… and before we know it, harvest season will be here! 🚜🌻

Every ending makes room for another beginning. šŸ’›

As I continue reading through the messages left in our thank-you book, there are two themes that keep jumping off the pages:

ā€œThis has become your summer tradition and the field brought you joy and smiles.ā€ ā¤ļø

ā€œThank you for our favourite summer family activity.ā€

ā€œWe look forward to this every year.ā€

And woven throughout so many of the messages are beautiful reminders of faith, gratitude and simply this: The Lord is good. šŸ™

On this Sunday morning, my heart is full.

What started as a field of sunflowers became so much more. It became a place where families made memories, children explored, friends laughed, people reflected, and some found a little bit of peace when they needed it most.

The sunflowers brought the beauty, but you brought the joy.

Thank you for making this field part of your summer traditions. Thank you for sharing your stories, your smiles, your struggles, your faith and your words of encouragement with us.

There is something incredibly special about knowing that a simple walk through a field has found its way into the hearts and traditions of so many families.

God is good. Life is good. And there is always, always something to be thankful for. šŸŒ»šŸ’›

Have a beautiful and blessed Sunday, everyone. šŸ™

I finally had a chance to sit down and look through the Positive Message Book and Guest Book that were left in the red phone booths in the sunflower field for all of you to sign.

And wow. ā¤ļø

Page after page, I found messages of hope, gratitude, encouragement, healing, kindness and resilience. It reminded me that so many people didn’t simply walk through the sunflower field — they felt something while they were there.

Some came carrying things that felt heavy. Some found a little peace. Some left encouragement for the complete stranger who would turn the page after them.

One message especially jumped out at me:

🌈 ā€œRemember, there’s always something better to come. Even after the rain, there’s a rainbow.ā€

How perfect for this rainy Saturday.

Maybe that’s one of the greatest things about sharing positivity — we never really know who needs to hear the words we choose to leave behind.

So today, let’s keep our Positive Message Book going right here. ā¤ļø

What positive message would YOU like to tell someone today?

šŸ‘‡ Leave it in the comments. You never know whose day your words might change.

Have a beautiful rainy Saturday, everyone. šŸŒ§ļøšŸŒˆšŸŒ»
There is always something better to come.

🌻 LEAVE IT IN THE SUNFLOWER FIELD 🌻

One of the most meaningful parts of this sunflower season wasn’t something we planted—it was something you shared with us.

So many visitors opened up about the struggles they were carrying. Grief. Stress. Worry. Heartache. Difficult seasons that perhaps no one else could see.

Some told us they were able to walk through the sunflowers, read the inspirational messages along the path, take a deep breath and simply leave a little of that heaviness in the field. šŸ’›

Others told us that when a difficult day comes again, they’ll think back to their walk—the sunflowers, the peacefulness, a certain sign that spoke to them, or simply the feeling they had while they were here.

And that means more to me than I can put into words.

We all have challenges. We all have days when life feels heavier than we would like. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can choose how we move through it.

Maybe we keep going.

Maybe we ask for help.

Maybe we give ourselves some grace.

Maybe we remember that one bad day does not make a bad life.

And maybe, somewhere in the middle of a difficult day, we close our eyes and remember standing among thousands of sunflowers and being reminded:

🌻 You are stronger than you think.
🌻 You are worthy of good things.
🌻 It’s okay to rest and begin again.
🌻 Keep growing—even through the hard seasons.

The flowers will eventually fade, but I hope the messages you found in our field stay with you long after the yellow is gone.

And if you left a little bit of your struggle somewhere along that 1.5 km path… congratulations! šŸ’›šŸŒ»

As I walked through the sunflower field this morning, I was thinking about something a dear friend of mine often says:

ā€œPut up your s**t shield.ā€ šŸŒ»šŸ’›

It makes me laugh, but there’s actually a whole lot of wisdom in those words.

This year, our sunflowers grew massive leaves—strong, broad leaves surrounding and protecting the stem. And it made me think about how important it is for us to protect our own core too—our heart, our peace, our well-being… the soul of who we are.

We can’t control how other people behave.
We can’t control what they say.
We can’t control the negativity, criticism, frustration or ā€œstuffā€ that gets thrown our way.

But we CAN decide how much of it we allow in.

Healthy boundaries aren’t about shutting people out. They’re about knowing what deserves access to your heart and what doesn’t.

So today, take a lesson from the sunflowers. 🌻

Stand tall.
Protect your core.
Guard your peace.
Know your worth.
And don’t allow someone else’s behaviour to determine how you feel about yourself or the kind of day you’re going to have.

Sometimes resilience looks like pushing forward.

And sometimes resilience looks like putting up your s**t shield and saying, ā€œNope. That’s not mine to carry.ā€ šŸ˜‚šŸŒ»

Protect your well-being. Protect your peace. Keep your face toward the sunshine.

Have an AWESOME day! šŸ’›šŸŒ»
