Building a Legacy
This month, I had the privilege of facilitating what may be the first Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (GTEP) delivered in Vietnamese for two group of underserved individuals who otherwise may never have had access to one of the world’s most effective trauma-processing approaches.
Watching participants begin with SUDS ratings of 7–8 and finish the session at 0–1 was an incredible reminder of the brain’s capacity to heal when given the right therapeutic intervention.
What is GTEP?
The Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (GTEP), developed by Elan Shapiro, is an evidence-informed EMDR group protocol designed to help people process traumatic experiences together in a structured and supportive environment. It has been used with groups who have experienced shared trauma, including:
* First responders
* Law enforcement officers
* Firefighters
* Healthcare professionals
* Educators
* Disaster survivors
* Refugees
* Communities affected by traumatic events
If your organization, community, or team is looking for an effective group-based trauma intervention, we’d be happy to discuss whether GTEP is an appropriate fit.
