Starting a task requires more than knowing that it needs to be completed!

Task initiation is an executive functioning skill involved in moving from intention to action. When a task feels unclear, lengthy, or overwhelming, identifying one manageable first step can make beginning more accessible.

Supports such as visual plans, prepared materials, smaller task steps, and clear starting points can help learners practice this skill over time.

Our Executive Functioning & Study Skills Group provides teens ages 14-18 with structured opportunities to practice task initiation, planning, organization, study strategies, focus, and academic independence.

Fall group registration is now open at Behaviour Avenues! 🍂

Our small-group programs create supportive opportunities to learn, practice, and apply meaningful skills alongside peers.

Choose between six different groups:

🎲 Cooperative Play Group | Ages 5–7
📚 Girls Books & Crafts Club | Ages 9–13
🫂 Youth Social & Emotional Regulation | Ages 12–15
📝 Executive Functioning & Study Skills | Ages 14–18
🏡 Adulting 101 | Ages 18–22 and 23–30

From communication and emotional regulation to organization, friendships, cooperative play, and everyday independence, each group focuses on practical skills participants can use beyond the program.

All groups are supervised by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) and are designed for participants who can engage safely in a small-group setting with limited individual support. No diagnosis is required, and fees may be eligible for AccessOAP funding, Social Work services, or Passport funding.

A little glimpse of emotional regulation support at Behaviour Avenues! Everyone needs a moment to reset sometimes; children included.

When a child is overwhelmed, immediately expecting them to return to a task, conversation, or activity may not be what they need most. A calm space, reduced stimulation, familiar comfort items, and a little time can support emotional regulation before they move on with their day.

Something new is coming to Behaviour Avenues this fall! 🍂

Back to school season is here, which means we’ve got lots of new programs to ease into the transition. Our small-group programs give children, teens, and young adults opportunities to learn and practice meaningful skills alongside their peers in a supportive, structured environment.

Programs will focus on areas such as:

✅ Communication and social interaction
✅Emotional regulation
✅ Executive functioning and study skills
✅ Independent living skills
✅ Cooperative play
✅ Confidence and self-advocacy

Behaviour Avenues Inc has been providing ABA therapy and parent coaching services in the London and surrounding areas for the past 5 years. We are excited to share that we are expanding our services to the GTA area starting fall 2026 for in-home 1:1 therapy services and parent coaching! We are OAP approved service providers.

Our sessions aim to support:

After several months of teaching making requests using AAC technology, our learner successfully and independently made a request to buy ice cream. This is what we celebrate 🎉 at Behaviour Avenues.
