Still energized from attending the Congress of Black Women Ontario Region’s Celebration and Recognition Brunch: Building on Legacy, Igniting and Illuminating the Future.
I attended with Kayoma Niles and other queens from the Congress of Black Women, London Chapter. The space was filled with meaningful connections, powerful conversations, and a shared commitment to community impact.
A highlight was meeting Dr. Itah Sadu, storyteller, author, educator, and cultural leader. Through her work with A Different Booklist and Blackhurst Cultural Centre, she continues to elevate Black voices and create spaces where culture and community thrive.
I’m especially grateful that she took the time to connect, and for her openness and humility. I’m also excited that she now has copies of Abigail & Friends in both French and English, she plans to review them with her team for the bookstore, this truly reflects her passion for uplifting others.
A big thank you to Nicole for making the event so engaging, her wisdom and insight added tremendous value, and her commitment to mental health advocacy and community impact was truly appreciated.
This experience deeply aligns with my passion for mental health advocacy, creating spaces where individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered. Moments like this are a reminder that community, legacy, and intentional impact truly matter.

Happy International Women’s Day!
I had the pleasure of attending the AWL International Women’s Day event last Monday. It was more than a fantastic networking opportunity, it was a day of empowerment, inspiration and encouragement to lead with courage. I was honored to meet the Honourable Marci Ien, former Minister of Women, Gender, Equality and Youths, who even purchased a copy of our book, Abigail and Friends!
This Women’s Day, let’s celebrate not only the achievements of women but also the power of nurturing young minds and raising mental health awareness. Get a copy of Abigail and Friends for your organization, school libraries, or sponsor local businesses. Each copy is more than a book, it’s a step toward empowering children and shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
Let’s flip the theme this year: instead of “Celebrating Women Today”, let’s make it “Investing in Her Tomorrow.” Every page inspires, every story empowers.

Healing begins with Acceptance!
No matter what you are going through, remember: healing begins when you acknowledge your emotional struggles and allow yourself to seek help.
Acceptance isn’t giving up; it’s creating the safety your mind needs to begin healing. Take a moment today to breathe deeply and remind yourself; It’s okay to reach out for help. I am taking the first step toward my healing.
