Discovering New Ancestors Genealogy research, DNA investigation and Bioinformatics.

If you've tested your DNA and have unassigned matches of 40–60cM or greater, then there's definitely something out there you don't know — a story you're missing, or an event otherwise undocumented by official records. A close reading of your DNA matches can identify Non-Paternity Events, suggest avenues for testing and inquiry, and ultimately provide the insights needed to arrive at solutions otherwise unobtainable by traditional research methods.

Of our 5 patent-pending bioinformatic processes, our oldest process (CMA) is probably the least original of the lot, but nonetheless is probably the most useful for researchers attempting to Discover New Ancestors.

CMA applies Axiomatic Set Theory to facilitate the computational analysis of In Common With (ICW) matches by correlating your ICW matches with the Generation of Connection of their sources.

We've updated our CMA Master Workbook to version 3.1.6

In his weekly Substack newsletter, Paul Chiddicks writes of our “Further Adventures” talk:

“In this fascinating presentation, Arun Konanur explores how mathematics, computer science, and emerging AI techniques are helping genealogists uncover hidden patterns within DNA data that would be almost impossible to spot by eye.

While some of the ideas are technical, the message is clear: the future of genetic genealogy lies not in gathering more data, but in understanding the data we already have. Whether you’re new to DNA research or an experienced family historian, this talk offers an intriguing glimpse into how tomorrow’s breakthroughs may come from seeing familiar evidence in an entirely new way.”

Compiling The Chiddicks Observer each week has become a reminder that remarkable stories rarely announce themselves.

The official press release from the American Society of Genealogists. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves — though we were also delighted with the insightful comments offered by the selection committee:

•"Cutting edge analysis of DNA results when standard methods fail or are incomplete"

• "This is the real deal: an exceptional opportunity to advance tools and acquire targeted instruction for practitioners who probably haven't mastered this."

• "Significant contribution to the field...Solid methodology"
