Is someone in your life not taking accountability where they should be? Are you? Consider what might become better or easier if you DID take accountability. 💪

A lack of accountability does not erase what someone did, it demonstrates the lengths they're willing to go to in order to escape facing the consequences of their actions.

Where there's a lack of accountability, there is also a lack of empathy, honesty, and integrity, and that has to do with someone's character, not with what happened.

Sometimes we feel ashamed of how we acted or coped in the past before we knew better. Try to embrace and accept these parts- they helped you survive to get where you are now.

A lot of the deepest work will never be applauded by the people who benefited from the old version of you.

They do not see the private reckonings. The patterns you had to name. The excuses you had to stop making. The grief of realising some of what felt normal was never healthy, just familiar. Most people only meet the result - the quieter boundaries, the clearer voice, the lower tolerance for what once got a free pass.

And because they never lived the inside of that shift, they often reduce it to something simpler.

“You’ve changed.”
“You’re distant.”
“You take things too seriously now.”
“You used to be easier.”

But that is what happens when someone stops cooperating with what harmed them.

Not everyone has the courage to question the system that shaped them. Not everyone has the courage to lose belonging in order to keep themselves. Not everyone has the courage to become harder to manipulate, harder to guilt, harder to fold back into the old role.

So if this work feels lonely sometimes, that does not mean it is wrong.

Very often, that loneliness is part of what real change costs before it becomes the life that finally fits you.
