“I’ll start in five minutes…” somehow turns into, “Where did the entire day go?”
Time blindness is a common—but often misunderstood—part of ADHD. It isn’t laziness or a lack of motivation. ADHD can affect how someone estimates time, transitions between activities, and notices how quickly the day is passing.
Someone with ADHD might:
• Think they have lots of time—until they suddenly don’t
• Hyperfocus for hours without realizing it
• Underestimate how long tasks will take
• Feel frustrated after being busy all day but struggling to name what they accomplished
Time blindness can become more manageable with external reminders, supportive strategies, and, when appropriate, ADHD treatment.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. ADHD isn’t a reflection of intelligence. It can affect how your brain experiences and organizes time.
