🚨 Dr. Amy will be going on maternity leave as of August 1st!

🌸 She will be back next spring (March/April 2027).

In the meantime, her patients can book with Dr. Longo. He has a similar approach to treatments and offers all the same modalities except for acupuncture.

All existing patients of Dr. Amy can book follow up appointments with Dr. Longo during this time. There is no need for an initial assessment if you have already been in to see Dr. Amy.

The importance of eccentric exercises! 💪

Every lift has two main parts:
The concentric phase - the lifting/shortening phase (eg. lifting the weight up in a bicep curl).
The eccentric phase - the lowering/lengthening phase (eg. lower the weight down in a bicep curl).

While everyone focuses on the concentric phase, they tend to get lazy with the eccentric phase.

The eccentric phase is very important for:

💪 Strengthening tendons
🏃🏽 Absorbing force for injury prevention
🏋 Functional strength (muscle are stronger eccentrically)

How to add eccentric exercise into your routine:

Pick a few exercises each session and focus on the “negative” aspect of it. Lower the weight in a slow, controlled manner for a “tempo” (eg. 2 seconds on the concentric, 5 seconds on the eccentric). Take your TIME and feel the stretch with each rep.

Starting next week, from June 1st to 12th, Ashland Ave. will be closed and our parking lot WON’T be accessible from there.

The temporary detour will be taking Oakland Ave. to Dundas St. and accessing our parking lot from Dundas St.

After June 12th (or hopefully earlier 🤞🏼) Ashland Ave. will be reopened. We will continue to update you as we learn more.

What is the best posture? 🙇🏽‍♂️

As a general rule, there is no single “best posture”.

The body was meant to MOVE and be in different positions throughout the day.

This is why we always recommend to set a timer every 30 or 60 minutes and move positions.

Sitting for 8 hours is not good for you. Standing for 8 hours is not good for you. Sitting in the “best posture” for 8 hours is not good for you.

We are meant to MOVE!

Every other Saturday 9am-1pm
