If your mind races the moment your head hits the pillow, here are three oils I reach for.

Lavender is one of the most researched oils for sleep — inhalation studies consistently point to reduced anxiety and better subjective sleep quality, likely through its effect on GABA activity in the brain. Roman Chamomile has long been used for its calming, mildly sedative effect on the nervous system. And Vetiver — grounding, earthy — is often reached for when thoughts won't settle.

A simple way to start: two drops of lavender in a diffuser thirty minutes before bed, or one drop on a cotton ball beside your pillow. This isn't a cure for insomnia. It's a tool to support the wind-down your body already knows how to do.

Rest doesn't always come easily. Chemopause, menopause, medications, stress, a mind still running through the day — there are so many real reasons sleep can feel out of reach, and none of them mean something is wrong with you.

Finding the right night routine for your body can make a real difference. A guided meditation before bed is one gentle way to help reset your nervous system, offering it a slower rhythm to follow instead of another thought to carry alone.

You may notice a new name here: Zarine | The Essential Aromatherapist.

The work hasn't changed. I'm still the same Burnout Recovery Coach, Clinical Aromatherapist, and Yoga Instructor who has spent years building Rest Rituals for people navigating sleepless nights, cancer treatment, and burnout that no one else seemed to be naming out loud. What's changed is that the name now says plainly what I actually do.

"The Essential Aromatherapist" isn't a tagline. It's a credential I trained for and a practice I take seriously — evidence-informed aromatherapy, not trend-chasing wellness content. When I recommend an oil for someone falling asleep after chemotherapy, or share why cortisol spikes at 3am, that comes from clinical training, not a guess at what performs well this week.

This name change is also a promise about what stays the same: no toxic positivity, no pretending rest is one essential oil away from solved, and no content here that wasn't made with real care for the person reading it — especially the ones going through something hard.

Same person. Same community. Same commitment to meeting you where you actually are. Just a name that finally matches the work.
