Today, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to learn from Indigenous communities, honor their histories and resilience, and reflect on the importance of truth, respect, and reconciliation.

As we celebrate, we also acknowledge the enduring connection Indigenous Peoples have to the land, waters, and communities that have shaped this country for generations.

Men's Mental Health Month is observed every June to raise awareness about men’s mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and encourage men to seek support.

Strength isn’t about carrying everything alone. It’s about knowing when to talk, ask for support, and take care of yourself.

Too many men struggle in silence because they feel pressure to “tough it out.” Real strength includes: honesty, vulnerability, and reaching out when things feel heavy.

This month, check in with yourself and the men in your life:
💙 Ask how they’re really doing
💙 Listen without judgment
💙 Make space for honest conversations
💙 Remember that seeking help is a sign of courage, not weakness

Mental health matters every day, and no one should have to face challenges alone.

Are you walking while looking at your phone right now? Stop! ✋
The biggest cause of falls isn't the floor, it's distraction!

Put the phone away. 📵
Focus on the path in front of you. 👀
And use handrails. They are there for a reason. ✅

In Canada, June is National Indigenous History Month, a dedicated time to recognize the rich histories, heritage, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. It is an opportunity to honor their ongoing resilience, celebrate their cultures, and actively engage in the truth and reconciliation process.

There are several key gatherings to celebrate First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures, featuring sunrise ceremonies, traditional drumming, dancing, and artisan vendors in London and surrounding counties.

City of London:
June 19, 2026 - 30th Annual Indigenous Solidarity Day at Victoria Park.
The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a sunrise ceremony and fire lit at 5:30 a.m., followed by Grand Entry at 11:00 a.m.

June 17 & 18, 2026 - Fanshawe College Campus Events: The Institute of Indigenous Learning will host on-campus events including Indigenous Language Bingo (June 17) and Social & Smoke Dancing (June 18).

Woodstock / Oxford County
June 21, 2026 - Tillsonburg & District Celebrations: Taking place on the weekend of National Indigenous Peoples Day, these gatherings feature Indigenous speakers, songs, drumming, and dancing.

Perth County
As a smaller community, Perth residents typically look to the wider eastern Ontario region for large-scale Solstice gatherings. You can check the Government of Canada Event List for exact local community center listings and digital, nation-wide virtual participation options as the month progresses.

Elgin County
St. Thomas locals can participate in regional events hosted throughout Elgin County or attend neighbouring gatherings, such as the major festivities hosted in London. For updates on local library or community-sponsored workshops, keep an eye on the Destination Ontario Calendar.

Huron County
Sainte-Marie among the Hurons (Midland - nearby Huron/Georgian Bay region): Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 19–21 with eagle flight singers, traditional fire-starting, waterway demonstrations, and Longhouse water drumming.

Today marks the beginning of Eid al-Adha which will last until Saturday May, 30. This holiday is also commonly known as the Festival of Sacrifice to honor the loyalty shown by Ibrahim (PBUH) when told by Allah to sacrifice his only son. When Ibrahim (PBUH) was about to carry out the act Allah stopped him, valuing his obedience and loyalty, and instead instructed him to sacrifice a ram. This holiday focuses on devotion, faith and submission to Allah's will, while emphasizing charity by sharing meat with the poor, family, and friends.

Wishing those who celebrate and their loved ones a joyful and blessed Eid al-Adha filled with peace, gratitude, and togetherness. May your sacrifices be accepted and your hearts be full. 🐐💫
