🥵Beat the Heat! 🥵
🐾☀️ Keeping our pets safe during the heat warning.🐾☀️

With Environment Canada issuing a heat warning for our area, we are expecting a long-duration heat event with temperatures climbing as high as 36°C this week. While we all love spending time outdoors, it’s important to remember that our pets can be MUCH more sensitive to extreme heat than we are.

Please take a look at the "How hot is too hot " chart attached below to help you decide if it’s safe for your pet to be active outdoors. Simple ways to keep your pets cool:

✔ Check the ground: If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!
✔Hydration is key: Always ensure fresh, cool water is easily accessible.
✔Stay indoors: During the hottest parts of the day, keep pets in a cool, air-conditioned space.
✔Limit activity: Plan your walks for the early morning or late evening when the sun is less intense.
✔Never leave them alone: Never leave your pets inside a parked vehicle, even for a quick errand.
✔Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, such as excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy.

If you suspect your pet is overheating, move them to a cooler area, offer water, and contact us or your nearest emergency vet immediately. Stay cool, everyone! 🧊🐕🐱

Canada Day Update & Fireworks Safety 🇨🇦🐾

Happy almost-Canada Day! Please note that Wellington-Baseline Animal Hospital will be closed on Wednesday, July 1st for the holiday. We will resume our regular hours on Thursday, July 2nd.

🩺With Canada Day celebrations approaching, we know many of our furry friends find fireworks stressful. If you think your pet may need medication to help them stay calm, please reach out to us ASAP.

❗Important Reminder: We require 24 hours' notice for all medication refills, so please give us a call today or tomorrow so we can have everything ready for you!

🎆A few tips to help your pet feel safe during the fireworks:

✅Create a sanctuary: Keep your pet in a safe, quiet area of the house.

✅Muffle the noise: Close the blinds and turn on the TV or some calming music.

✅Plan your walk: Take your pet for their walk early in the day before the celebrations begin.**Be mindful of the temperature outside🌡️

✅Stay home: It’s best to keep nervous pets at home rather than taking them to events.

✅Safety first: Ensure their microchip information is up to date in case they get spooked and slip away.

✅Provide comfort: Sometimes just your presence and a calm voice is the best medicine!

🇨🇦We hope you and your pets have a safe and relaxing holiday!🐕🐈

Good afternoon Everyone!

🚧We have the next phase of the construction update!!!! 🚧

To reduce impacts during busy daytime hours and improve safety for crews, paving will happen overnight in stages. Traffic will remain partially open throughout construction, but lane closures and access changes will vary each night. Work will take place nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. through June 4, with June 5 reserved if needed due to weather.

Drivers should expect delays, follow posted signs and detours, allow extra travel time, and plan ahead using navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps.

Please see the link for the detour that the city of London is showing for the first week of June 2026.

⚠ Please be advised to give yourself ample time when travelling for your pets appointment! As appointments are booked for 30 min slots, if you are running 15mins late we may have to cancel and reschedule your appointment time ⚠
