Happy National Nut Day! From Acorn Soup and alphabet acorns to Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel, fall-themed games are a fun way to build speech and language skills at home! Practise naming letters, following directions, describing, taking turns, and building sentences as you play because learning to communicate can be as easy as adding a little fun to playtime.

Learning to read starts with the little steps! Try a quick CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) activity at home: help your child say each sound, move through the letters one at a time, and blend them together to read a word like sun or map. Breaking reading into small, manageable steps helps prevent overwhelm, builds confidence, and creates a strong foundation for learning.

Has your child’s teacher expressed concerns about reading, or is your child finding it difficult to keep up? Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) can assess early reading skills and provide targeted support to help children build the skills and confidence they need to become successful readers.

Did you know that October is AAC month? Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices can be as simple as pictures and as complex as a speech-generating device. The friendships, smiles, and confidence that grew during our Playing with Letters Camp made this a very special week!

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible graduate Speech-Language Pathology students for sharing their enthusiasm and providing compassionate 1:1 support. It was a joy to watch each child thrive while building communication skills, literacy skills and friendship skills.

What an inspiring experience at the London Brain Injury Conference on June 5th! The day was filled with informative and inspiring presentations from lived experience, research and rehabilitation professionals.

It was a honour to present alongside my colleague, Paige Pierozynski from MedEar. We are grateful for the opportunity to share the stories and insights from our clients about the challenges of cognitive, communication and auditory processing difficulties after a concussion.
