Over the past several days, many members of our community have been processing the emotional impact of the recent attack targeting the Islamic Centre of San Diego and the references made to London, Ontario, Christchurch and Quebec City.
Many members of our community have been carrying renewed grief, fear, anxiety and emotional heaviness. We recognize that moments like these can deeply impact individuals, families, and especially youth, not only emotionally, but also in their sense of safety, belonging, and connection.
We know many individuals and families are processing difficult emotions right now. It is okay to feel sadness, anger, heaviness, or exhaustion.
In times of fear and uncertainty, staying connected to community, care, and one another becomes even more important.
Healing, conversation, reflection and community care matter deeply in moments like these. Over the coming weeks, we will continue creating spaces for connection and support throughout the city, including healing circles and youth-focused gatherings.
Please continue checking in on one another and reach out for support if needed. You are not alone.
