No words can describe the shock we feel over the reported attack on a Muslim woman in front of her 7-year old child in New Brunswick. The mother was left with physical scars and a swollen face, and both the mother and child are left with a deep impact to their mental well-being. Our hearts and prayers are with the victims and their family 💙

It is exhausting for our community to continuously hear of these stories. Canada continues to be have one of the highest rates of Islamophobic killings amongst the G7 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States).

It is time to take action against Islamophobia. The work is not done.

I had the opportunity to meet with the team at the Muslim Resource Centre for Social Support and Integration (MRCSSI) and learn more about the incredible work they are doing in our community.

For more than 17 years, MRCSSI has been helping children, youth, individuals, and families navigate challenges, connect with supports, and access the services they need. Their focus on prevention, early intervention, and building trusted relationships is making a real difference in people’s lives.

Thank you to Elyas Farooqi, Alfredo Marroquin, Yunith Gonzalez Ulloa, and the entire team at MRCSSI for the important work you do every day to strengthen families, build safer communities, and ensure people have the support they need to succeed.

We continue to remember Our London Family who were killed in an Islamophobic terrorist attack five years ago today.

Today and every day, we say no to hate in our cities, communities, neighborhoods, public and digital spaces, schools, work places, and in our homes and hearts.

To honour their memory, we must continue speaking out against hate and building safer communities where everyone feels respected, safe, and that they belong 💜💚

We had an amazing turnout for our Youth and Service Provider Open House today! 💜

We had rich discussions about the reality of Islamophobia and Gendered Islamophobia, and what is needed to create change. Youth also participated in a healing art workshop with .by.aruba (last slide!) 🎨
