Our visit to Ska-Nah-Doht was a wonderful way to bring history to life! From the museum tour to exploring the cabins in longhouses there was so much to see and learn. It was interesting to hear about the history of the site and then have a chance to see some of these things firsthand. We celebrated with a wonderful afternoon filled with sweet treats, laughter, and a little friendly competition! Our Food & Beverage Manager, Phil, prepared a delicious Bananas Foster dessert for everyone to enjoy while we put our memories to the test with a special “Then & Now” guessing game featuring childhood and younger-day photos of our very own residents! It was such a fun way to celebrate the incredible people, stories, and memories that make Richmond Woods so special.

Today, our residents came together for a meaningful social focused on Truth and Reconciliation and the history behind Orange Shirt Day. We took time to learn about why we wear orange, what this day represents.

We were also grateful to welcome Steven Tolles, who shared a thoughtful presentation on Indigenous culture, traditions, and practices. His presentation gave us an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and gain a greater appreciation for the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures.

Today was a reminder that learning, listening, remembering, and understanding are all important steps toward reconciliation. 🧡
