Bundle of Love Birth Services

Bundle of Love Birth Services Certified birth doula NOW serving clients planning births in Meadow Lake, Lloydminster, & North Batt

As a certified birth doula, I am skilled and experienced in providing compassionate, knowledgeable, professional, AND practical support to clients during pregnancy, continuously throughout their births, AND after their bundles of love are born (through early breastfeeding and postpartum support)! My philosophy as a birth doula is that I am here to support women and families in their own unique jou

rneys through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum weeks. As a birth doula (also known to some as a 'birth companion', 'birth coach', 'labor assistant', and/or other descriptors), I fully support each woman in the way SHE desires to be supported. To me, the word 'support' means to be the type of help, assistance, and overall presence my clients would like for me to be in this childbearing time of their lives. Many women have partners and/or other support persons who will be at their births, and my services are also for them - I assist them in their role of supporting the mother according to their personal plans and desires for their involvement in the birth process. My *Birth Doula* services are for women who...

- prefer to birth with pain medication AND without (AND those who would like to wait and see!)
- are hoping for a va**nal births AND those planning cesarean births
- are planning a va**nal birth after a previous cesarean (VBAC) AND those who prefer to have a repeat cesarean birth
- have a high-risk pregnancy and/or there are specialized medical concerns surrounding their baby's birth AND those who have low risk pregnancies/births
- would overall like to have unbiased, judgement-free support, on their own terms, during this momentous time of their lives!

I think this raises some good points!

"I don’t wait for my sister to ask before I take her baby. ⠀

Oops. That kinda’ sounds like kidnapping. Allow me to explain. ⠀

When I visit my sister and I get to hold my precious nephew (who smells like an angel who was just feathered with some sorta’ heavenly angel dust), I tell her that I’m taking him to the bedroom, turning on my favourite show, and he is mine for the next hour (or two). ⠀

I’ll change any diapers during that time; I’ll change his clothes once it’s soaked in drool; I’ll feed him his bottle once he gets hungry. She knows that she has that hour (or two. after all, I’m in no hurry) and she has that time to do as she pleases. ⠀

Eat. Vacuum. Shower. Dust. Nap. Catch up on her favourite crime documentary. ⠀

However she chooses to spend that time, it’s completely up to her. It’s HER time. I don’t question it; I certainly don’t judge it. Only she knows what she her body and her heart needs during that time - And I want her to honour just that. ⠀

Me, her, and him? We all come out of that hour (or two) feeling incredible. It’s a beautiful pause from the world for all three of us. ⠀

You see, if I waited for her to ask - It wouldn’t happen. Guilt. Shame. Feelings of ‘I should be able to do it all’ would most definitely take centre stage. ⠀

Long story short: She would never ask.⠀

She (like all other mothers, myself included) would instead wait for the burnout to set in (as oddly enough that feels more natural to current day motherhood than asking for help does). ⠀

Friends - We need to stop that narrative. ⠀

We all see it. The memes and articles about motherhood burnout. We know it’s happening. We’re told the ways that we can help a mother once she gets tired, and once she is overwhelmed. ⠀

But what about if we didn’t wait for them to get burnt out? What about if we stepped in and helped the mothers before the exhaustion set in?⠀

I am a mother. Of three. No longer babies - One is taller, one is eye level, and one is almost there. But when they were littles, I was witness to so many mothers around me who were tired, exhausted, depleted of energy (and of life). My heart broke for them all. ⠀

As for me?"

Well wouldn't you know...

In late 2016 I had a baby and during my maternity leave we moved to a new area of this province for my husband's work reasons, and in late 2019 we had a baby and are currently in the middle of relocating AGAIN to a ANOTHER area of SK for my husband's work!

We are thinking we are done our season of many moves (and maybe even babies of our own!), so as we move and settle in to the Loon Lake / Meadow Lake area of SK and as my maternity leave approaches its end this fall, look for some changes on FB and my website to stay up to date! And if you know anyone having babies in northern SK, feel free to invite them to like this FB page!

I hope everyone has a special mothers day, no matter who you are!

While this happened in Australia it is so good to read a positive story of a birth (and early postpartum) in this time!

In China, babies have been taken away from mothers to protect them from coronavirus. But in Australia, things have been done differently.

Despite being on my own 'maternity leave' from on call in-person birth doula work at this time with a 4 month old amidst this Covid19 crisis, I want to say that I am willing to provide FREE VIRTUAL SUPPORT to anyone who reaches out to me *anywhere in Saskatchewan* who does not already have a birth doula of their own and who is impacted by the rules for hospital birth companions.

What can I do? While I won't be there to provide physical massage techniques, counter pressure, hip squeezes, or rebozo techniques, I can provide coaching on these things and more for your partner in the moments of labor (and/or beforehand during pregnancy so they feel better prepared) as I bear witness to your birth. I can also help you determine what your options are for decisions that may come up during pregnancy and birth. I am not a medical provider and can't give medical advice but I can help you talk through your options so that you feel comfortable making decisions. I can also provide valuable emotional support and encouragement that all doulas strive to provide no matter the circumstances their clients are in.

You may utilize this support by texting or calling 639-318-1711 to make arrangements for what this may look like.

-----

A few notes:

- You do NOT have to be in labor yet to contact me. I don't mind virtually 'meeting' before labor, especially if you want me to be as on-call *as possible* for labor. I can also provide prenatal support as you near the end of pregnancy.

- This service is being offered for free because I cannot provide a guarantee that I will be available or have any type of backup plan in case of circumstances changing on my end.

- I may limit my support if I am contacted by multiple women at once.

- This service availability may stop at any time without updating this FB page.

The blueberries represent a totally normal feeding 'pattern' (or lack thereof) for breastfed babies fed on demand. It can look so different than the expectations that some women worry something is wrong, but rest assured that is a normal feeding pattern and unless your baby isn't gaining weight appropriately you shouldn't have to worry about any feeding patterns or lack of patterns your baby falls into!

FEEDING ON DEMAND.
The Breastfeeding Dietitian used cereal and blueberries to see the difference between expectations and reality of many breastfeeding moms.
Were you told your baby should breastfeed every 2-3 hours? It happens all of the time. Did you know that only came from figuring out how often feeding was needed for a baby to feed 8-12 times in a 24 hour period...
So yes we APPROXIMATELY would like babies to feed AT LEAST 8-12 times, but the way it all plays out in a 24 hour period is very different for each baby.
Reality: babies feed like the blueberries. Lots of feedings. Some small. Some big. Some close together. Some far apart.
Babies do not feed like clockwork where every cereal (ahem.. feed) is spaced equally apart and the same size. You can relax if your otherwise healthy baby goes longer than 3 hours between a feed. You don’t need to think “you can’t still be hungry” and delay a feed if they are showing signs they want to feed earlier than 2 hours.
Listen to your baby. Trust your instincts. Let go of the cookie cutter “ideal” and develop your own relationship that works for you and your baby.
Do you feed on demand? What works for you and your baby?
