Thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday for our Morrison Dam Commemorative Woods Dedication Service.

With well over 500 people in attendance, it was undoubtedly the largest gathering we have ever welcomed—and the weather could not have been more perfect.

It was a privilege to gather with you as we remembered and honoured your loved ones. We are incredibly blessed by the support we receive from the communities we serve, and it is something we never take for granted.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE ON GODERICH STREET WEST!

A big thank you to the Municipality of Huron East, Shawn Bromley, Director of Public Works, and all of the contractors for the tremendous work completed along Goderich Street West. With brand-new asphalt, sidewalks and sod, the entire street looks—and truly is—brand new!

We are also sincerely grateful to the families and members of our community who showed such patience and understanding while access to our Seaforth facility was disrupted over the past few months. We particularly appreciate those who placed their trust in our team and allowed us to serve them from our Exeter location during this time.

Thank you to everyone involved for all of the hard work and cooperation throughout this project.

One of the first changes you’ll notice at our Goderich funeral home…

Since taking over McCallum & Palla Funeral Home, our approach has largely been status quo. There is a lot that has worked well here for many years, and we have no interest in changing things simply for the sake of change.

There is, however, one significant change we are making.

As we align Goderich with our other Haskett Funeral Homes locations, we are changing our casket and urn product lines to reflect something we have believed in for a long time: buy closer to home whenever we can.

Going forward, the caskets we offer will come from Canadian companies manufacturing in Victoriaville, Quebec and Lindsay, Ontario. Our urns will come from these same Canadian suppliers, as well as a family-owned business in British Columbia.

This isn't a new direction for us. Supporting Canadian manufacturers, independent businesses and family-owned companies has always been part of how we try to do business.

We are proud to now be part of the Goderich community, and as we make decisions about how we operate here, we want those decisions to reflect the same values we see in the communities we serve.

We have always believed that being part of a community means supporting the organizations and people who make it stronger.

As we begin this new chapter in Goderich, we didn’t want to waste much time getting involved. With Alexandra Marine & General Hospital now one of our closest neighbours—and our own Bruce Elliott serving as an Ambassador on the Magnetic Moments Campaign—it seemed like a pretty natural place to start.

So, rather than waiting until we’d completely unpacked the boxes, we were very pleased to contribute $5,000 toward this important campaign.

We’re quickly learning that Goderich is a community that gets behind good things—and we’re very happy to be joining in.

Welcome to neighbourhood, Haskett Funeral Homes.

The team announced their arrival in Goderich with a $5,000 donation to the Magnetic Moments campaign last week, bringing us closer to our $6,500,000 goal to bring an MRI machine to Huron County.

A New Chapter in Goderich

We are very pleased to share that McCallum & Palla Funeral Home in Goderich is now part of Haskett Funeral Homes.

For generations, families in Goderich and the surrounding area have trusted McCallum & Palla to care for their loved ones. We are honoured to continue that tradition.

Most importantly, the familiar faces families have come to know will remain in Goderich. Troy St. Onge and Nadine Haines will continue as full-time members of our Goderich team, with Bruce Elliott and the funeral home’s part-time team continuing alongside them. They will be supported by General Manager Wes Elmes, Colin Haskett, and the entire Haskett Funeral Homes team.

While the name will transition to Haskett Funeral Homes, families can continue to expect local care, familiar faces and the same commitment to compassionate, professional service.

We are excited to become part of the Goderich community and look forward to serving families throughout the area for many years to come.
