In 1974, after the hospital moved from Pender Harbour to Sechelt, community members concerned about local access to health care came together to form the Pender Harbour and District Health Centre Society. Thanks to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of this small group of volunteers, the Pender Harbour Health Centre opened its doors in 1976. For the past 50 years, PHHC has provided local access to health and wellness services for Pender Harbour and surrounding communities.

To mark this historic milestone, the Pender Harbour and District Health Centre Society Board of Directors invites the community to join us on Saturday, August 15th, to celebrate 50 years of the Health Centre serving our community.

Event Details:

• 1 p.m. – Welcome remarks and guest speakers.
• 2 p.m. – Official opening of the Primary Care Wing.
• 2:30 p.m. – Health Centre tours begin and continue every 30 minutes.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. The celebration will also include light refreshments, cake, face painting, and children’s gift bags.

The Pender Harbour Health Centre Board of Directors extends heartfelt thanks to Sunshine Coast Financial for sponsoring this event and for its longstanding partnership and support of PHHC.

Last week, the Pender Harbour Health Centre welcomed Sarah Johnston and Ian Grant from the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour. In addition to delivering the club’s 50/50 draw proceeds, they visited to see the new treatment bed and vital signs monitor the Rotary helped us purchase in May.

In May 2026, the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour, with support from a Rotary district grant, donated $6,750 in equipment funding to the Pender Harbour Health Centre. The funds were used to purchase a new bed for our renovated treatment room and new vital signs monitor to replace aging equipment.

As a charitable healthcare organization that receives no core government funding, we rely on the generosity of supporters and community partners to purchase new equipment and make building upgrades.

The Pender Harbour Health Centre, Board of Directors, staff, and patients extend heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour, Rotary District, and their members for their generous support and commitment to health and wellness in our community.

Last week, the Pender Harbour Health Centre welcomed Sarah Johnston and Ian Grant from the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour. In May and June, the Rotary used the NEXUS 50/50 draws to support the Health Centre’s goal of purchasing a new Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) for the clinic.

Through these draws, the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour raised $880 toward our goal. In addition, May 50/50 winners Ken and Georgia Reynolds generously donated their $712.00 in winnings to PHHC to help fund the AED.

Thanks to the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour, everyone who purchased tickets, and Ken and Georgia Reynolds, PHHC has now raised $1,592.50 toward our $2,555 AED goal. To make a donation, please contact [email protected].

The Pender Harbour Health Centre, our Board of Directors, staff, and patients extend heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour, its dedicated volunteers, everyone who purchased tickets for the May and June draws, and Ken and Georgia Reynolds for their generous support and commitment to health and wellness in our community.

Pender Harbour Health Centre and the Pender Harbour Better at Home Program are pleased to announce the relaunch of the Pender Harbour Seniors Link bus service this June. Service will resume on Tuesday, June 2nd, with new members joining the Better at Home team.

We are pleased to introduce Karla and Carolyn (pictured below, left to right) as our new Better at Home transportation drivers. We are excited to welcome them to the team and look forward to seniors meeting them while using the Seniors Link service.

We would also like to thank Brian, our previous Seniors Link driver, who recently left the community. Brian brought professionalism, compassion, and dedication to the role, and we sincerely appreciate his contributions to the successful launch of the Seniors Link service. In 2025, the service provided more than 1,300 rides to seniors in our community. We thank United Way BC for their continued funding support for this program.

Please note that there are a few minor changes to the Seniors Link schedule. The updated schedule is attached. The main changes are:

• The Lily Lake Village stop is now located outside Campbell House.
• The Trail and Cowrie stop has moved to the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre on Cowrie Street.

If you have any questions about the Seniors Link service, please contact Haida, our Better at Home Coordinator, at [email protected].
