Magrath High School Student Employment Opportunity!
Ad will close when we have filled the position.
We are looking to hire a student for our temporary student position at the Diamond Willow Lodge. (This is a temporary position as we will only have this shift during periods of high occupancy at the lodge.)
You will be sharing this shift with three other students. This shift consists of 7 days a week including weekends and holidays on rotation, from 4pm to 7pm; and day shifts on weekends, from 7am-2:30pm.
Must be willing to work weekends on rotation!
Wage is $13/hr. for students under 18 years of age.
Applicant must have excellent communication skills.
The duties include:
- Set the tables for supper
- Help serve supper
- Clearing and washing dishes, sanitizing tables
- Sweeping the dining room floor
- Setting the tables for breakfast
- And other daily kitchen cleaning duties.

POSITION: Cook (Casual position. 4-8 shifts/month)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare assigned meals complying with an approved menu and trusted recipes.
2. Perform daily, weekly and other scheduled cleaning tasks in the kitchen while also
maintaining tidy, sanitary and safe work areas while performing cooking tasks.
3. Assist the Cook Team Leader as requested, with training of new team members, menu
planning, identifying items that need to be ordered.
4. Work in a safe and healthy manner by adhering to infection prevention and control
practices and procedures; following safe work procedures; and following safe food
practices.
5. Model dependability, punctuality, good work ethic, and respectful relationships.
6. Maintain confidentiality on issues related to residents, employee matters and Chinook
Foundation business.
7. Perform other duties, as outlined in the shift duty list and as required.
8. Willing to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and fill in for vacations.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Extensive cooking experience required. Institutional cooking experience preferred.
2. Food Safe Certification is preferred.
2. The ability to follow menu plans and recipes and prepare food.
3. Ability to operate all kitchen tools and equipment properly and safely.
4. Strong time management skills.
5. Good health, physically fit, able to walk and lift, with no history of back problems-a
medical may be required.
6. Strong customer service focus and a desire to achieve the highest standards of excellence
in food service.
7. Willing to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays on a scheduled basis.

JOB TITLE:
Maintenance

POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintenance staff oversee all aspects of caring for the facility to which they are assigned including its structure, systems, equipment, appliances and furnishings and its grounds.

HOURS OF WORK:
8 hour shift every Friday; available for on-call and call-backs; cover for Head of Maintenance short notice and vacation days.

MINIMUM STARTING WAGE (depending on education and experience):
$26.00 / hr.

AGE REQUIREMENT:
Must be 18 yrs +

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Any combination of education and experience providing the basic skills and knowledge base to successfully perform the required duties. Typical qualifications may include (not mandatory:
a. A valid Journeyman certificate (Alberta), project management or related certificate, a Building Operator’s Certificate or similar are preferred.
b. 2 yrs. related experience within a similar setting is preferred.
2. Sufficient health and physical fitness to meet the demands of the position with no history of back problems or other physical limitations (e.g. chronic injuries or illness) - a favorable medical may be required.
3. Mechanical aptitude to perform a variety of minor repairs to building, equipment, furniture, and fixtures as may be required.
4. Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
5. Knowledge and ability to care for facility grounds in all seasons including snow removal, lawn care, flower gardening, and tree and shrub care.
6. Strong interpersonal and listening skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner.
7. Demonstrate flexibility by changing routine to accommodate resident needs.
8. Ensure effective and clear communication with Site Manager/CAO, Team Leaders, co-workers and residents.
9. A clean vulnerable sector check.
10. A valid driver’s license.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist Maintenance Team Lead to ensure building maintenance is compliant with Accommodation Standards, building, fire, health and other safety codes.
2. In collaboration with the site manager, arrange for outside contractors as appropriate and assist them during site visits as may be appropriate.
3. Perform routine inspections, testing and record readings as required to comply with municipal and provincial fire and safety codes (e.g. fire drills, fire extinguishers, emergency generator, emergency lighting, hot water temperatures, etc.)
4. Monitor boilers and air handling systems and record daily readings for pressures, temperatures, air flows, liquid levels, adding prescribed water softeners and chemicals.
5. Plumbing maintenance, repair, clean and/or maintain sinks, faucets, taps, toilets.
6. Perform maintenance such as replacing glides on furniture, removing, and replacing door handles, locksets, attaching draperies, blinds, and pictures to drywall surfaces.
7. Prepare rooms for new residents including cleaning vents, mudding/taping/painting and ensuring plumbing and electrical systems are working optimally.

The Chinook Foundation is accepting applications for a Chief Administrative Officer to work under the direction of the Board to oversee all seniors housing operations of Chinook Foundation including lodges and seniors’ self-contained housing in Cardston County.

The successful candidate will be an effective leader who embraces the values and culture of Chinook Foundation. He or she will also have training and/or proven experience in the following key areas:

• Post-secondary degree and/or 5 years’ experience in management or administration.
• Previous experience providing quality housing to seniors would be an asset
• Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to empower, motivate, and inspire, including inspiring change when needed.
• Exceptional English language writing skills including the ability to write policy.
• Financial planning, strategic planning, and budgeting skills.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and complete accountabilities on time.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage records properly.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively resolve conflict in a diplomatic, respectful, confidential, and professional manner.
• Excellent oral communication skills to effectively communicate with staff, residents, board, stakeholders, local and provincial government, and the public.
• Strong computer skills and facility with a variety of technologies.

Duties will include
• Board liaison/governance.
• Accounting, budgeting and payroll/human resources duties.
• Support for and supervision of site managers.
• Overseeing maintenance, upgrading of buildings, and potential capital projects.
• Reporting and accountability to the Alberta Government and to licensing and accrediting bodies.
• Policy development and implementation.
• Media and advertising.

Starting Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 depending on experience and education
