Ever squeezed a lime into your drink poolside and noticed a weird rash later? That might not be a sunburn.

It’s called phytophotodermatitis, and it happens when certain plant compounds (like those in citrus juice) react with UV light on your skin. Unlike a regular sunburn that shows up evenly wherever the sun hit, this reaction appears in streaks, drips, or even handprint shapes, wherever the juice actually touched.

It can blister, burn, and leave behind dark marks that stick around for weeks or months after the initial redness fades.

The good news: once you know what causes it, it’s easy to avoid. Rinse any citrus off your skin before heading into the sun, and if it does happen, treat the area gently and keep it protected from further exposure while it heals.

Today, our Cocoa family traded skincare for aprons as we gathered for a staff cooking class! ❤️

The day was also a surprise celebration because one of us recently celebrated a 40th birthday 👀.

A huge thank you to Tiffany for organizing our menu and generously sharing her culinary talents with us as we created an incredible four-course meal together. Every course was absolutely delicious, and we all learned something new along the way. ❤️
