This is one of our favourite ways to make tummy time more engaging while helping baby build neck and upper-body strength! 💯👶🏼
(Video sped up 3x)

Some babies aren’t big fans of traditional floor tummy time—and that’s completely understandable. They may find the position uncomfortable, too flat, not stimulating enough, or simply prefer being closer to a parent.

Using an exercise ball can make tummy time feel more playful while adding movement, balance, and directional changes. It can also be a helpful way to encourage more symmetrical neck movement for babies who tend to look or tilt their head to one side, and can be incorporated into exercises for babies with plagiocephaly or torticollis.

Here’s how to try it 👇🏼

Place baby belly-down on the ball and gently roll them forward, backward, and from side to side. Give them plenty of time to respond to the movement, activate their neck muscles, and lift their head against gravity.

If your baby has a preferred direction for looking, you can spend a little more time encouraging them to turn toward the opposite side to promote more balanced neck strength and movement. You can also try the exercise with baby in a supported sitting position for a different visual and vestibular challenge.

✨ Pro tip: Add something interesting for baby to look at—like a mirror, high-contrast cards, or a projector light—positioned in front of them or slightly above eye level. This can encourage them to lift and hold their head in a more upright position.

As always, keep baby closely supported and supervised throughout the exercise. 🫶🏼

Have you tried tummy time on an exercise ball? Did your little one enjoy it?

Save this post for later ✅ and share it with a parent who might find it helpful! 💕

👟 Trying to find an appropriate shoe for your little one’s developing feet? Here’s our check list! 👇🏼

Aim for:
✅ flexible & minimal sole (you want the foot to be as close to the earth as possible to allow for max effectiveness of foot receptors that communicate with the brain and let it know where the foot is in space to help with balance and coordination)
✅ wide toe box (toes sit naturally in shoe as if they were barefoot, no overlapping or squished toes!)
✅ can roll toe to heel easily (like a cinnamon bun)
✅ can twist through middle easily (like wringing out a wet cloth)
✅ zero heel drop (sole is same thickness from heel to toe, no lift, cushion, heel)

Shoes should allow the feet to move like feet! 🦶🏼

Try to avoid hand me downs when you can! Although they come with great intention, these shoes often hold wear patterns from the previous child.

Barefoot will provide the best benefit to a developing foot as it allows for appropriate challenge and strengthening of intrinsic foot muscles that hold the three foot arches up, works on balance, proprioception, and sensory integration from the earth to the brain! 🧠 🦶🏼

💀 NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHIROPRACTOR 🙌🏼

If you’re looking for a quick crack and out the door in 5 minutes... we’re probably not the clinic for you.
And we’re okay with that.

At Maple Ridge Wellness Centre, we believe your body deserves more than a rushed adjustment.

Every person who walks through our doors has a story. Your injuries. Your stress. Your lifestyle. Your habits. Your goals. Your nervous system. Your movement patterns. Your past experiences. They all matter.
That’s why our care starts differently.

✨ Initial assessments are 60–80 minutes because we take the time to truly understand you.
✨ Follow-up appointments are a minimum of 20 minutes, giving us the opportunity to reassess, treat thoroughly, answer your questions, and adapt your plan as you progress.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care.
Your treatment may include:
✔️ Soft tissue therapy
✔️ Graston / IASTM
✔️ Laser therapy
✔️ Shockwave therapy
✔️ Joint mobilization
✔️ Active rehabilitation & corrective exercise
✔️ Personalized home care
✔️ And yes… chiropractic adjustments to the spine and extremities when they’re appropriate.
Because an adjustment is just one tool in the toolbox. 🔨

We’re constantly asking:
• Why did this happen?
• Why is it still happening?
• What needs to change so it doesn’t keep coming back?

We also work collaboratively with other practitioners, both within our clinic and throughout the community, because the best outcomes happen when healthcare works together.

Our goal isn’t just to help you feel better for today.
It’s to help you move better, function better, and stay better for the long term.

Because healthcare should never feel rushed.
It should feel personal.

This is chiropractic care that’s built around you,
not just your spine. 🤍

INFANT CRANIOSACRAL & CRANIOFACIAL THERAPY

Babies aren’t meant to live in survival mode—they’re meant to feel safe, calm, and regulated. 🤍

Gentle craniosacral and craniofacial therapy helps support your baby’s developing nervous system, encouraging a shift into the parasympathetic “rest and digest” state—where babies feed better, digest more comfortably, sleep more deeply, and connect more easily.

Here’s how it can help:
🤍 Supports nervous system regulation
Birth is a significant event, even when everything goes smoothly. Gentle hands-on therapy can help calm an overstimulated nervous system, allowing babies to settle with greater ease instead of remaining in a heightened “fight or flight” state.

🤱🏽🍼 Improves feeding & oral function
Tension through the jaw, tongue, neck, face, and chest can affect latch, sucking coordination, milk transfer, and feeding endurance. Releasing these restrictions allows babies to feed more comfortably and efficiently.

🌿 Supports digestion
When babies are in a parasympathetic state, their digestive system works the way it’s designed to. Many families notice improvements in gas, reflux symptoms, constipation, and overall digestive comfort as the nervous system becomes more regulated.

💤 Encourages restful sleep
A relaxed body and regulated nervous system make it easier for babies to fall asleep, stay asleep, and settle after waking.

✨ Releases birth-related tension
Birth can place significant forces on a tiny body. Craniosacral and craniofacial therapy can gently address tension patterns that contribute to head preference, body asymmetry, torticollis, flattening of the head, or overall stiffness.

The goal isn’t to “fix” your baby—it’s to help their body feel safe enough to do what it was designed to do.

A regulated baby can feed, digest, sleep, grow, and thrive with greater ease. And that’s exactly where babies are meant to be. 🤍
