Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation We exist to enable the growth of Oak Valley Health's Markham Stouffville Hospital. Together, we can bring a lifetime of care closer to home.

Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike,
DONATE ONLINE at mshf.on.ca or CALL us at (905) 472-7059. We are a supportive hand for our community and our hospital, Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH). MSH is one of Ontario’s leading community hospitals serving Canada’s most diverse population in one of its fastest growing regions. Caring for over 437,000 patients each year, with 354 beds, redeveloped facilities, excellent clinical programs and leading health technology, MSH proudly provides patient care that uniquely combines the scope of a large hospital with the warm and personal touch that only a community hospital can offer. MSH is honoured to care for the more than 450,000 residents of Markham, Stouffville, Uxbridge, Richmond Hill, eastern York Region, north Durham and north Scarborough. Government can’t fund all life-saving equipment and top priority needs. Generous donor support is the reason our growing and aging community can count on exceptional care close to home, today, and for generations to come.

Over the years, Marg Drudge accompanied both her parents to Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) for cancer care. When she received her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2022, she found reassurance in a team her family already knew and trusted.

With a family history of breast cancer, Marg began receiving mammograms and ultrasounds around age 35. She had no symptoms when her cancer was discovered through routine screening at the Gale & Graham Wright Breast Health Centre. Her two adult daughters are now enrolled in MSH’s high-risk screening program.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing Marg’s story and her reminder of the difference screening and early detection can make. 🩷

When retired teacher Marguerite Gervan noticed a lump in her breast, she turned to Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) — the same hospital she has supported before it was even built.

She immediately booked a mammogram with the Gale & Graham Wright Breast Health Centre and soon after received the devastating diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer.

While navigating her surgery and chemotherapy, Marguerite found comfort in the timely care she received from her MSH team.

“After every chemo session, Dr. Trinkaus would ask how I was doing, not just physically but emotionally as well,” Marguerite shares. “I felt listened to and valued as a person, not just a patient.”

This Breast Cancer Awareness month we’re sharing Marguerite’s patient journey to highlight the world-class breast health care available close to home at MSH. 🩷

More than four decades of generosity and a remarkable commitment to care close to home. 💙

We were honoured to recognize Les and Jean Gagnon for their incredible contribution to Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH).

To celebrate their generosity, we proudly unveiled the Les & Jean Gagnon Computed Tomography (CT) Room.

Les and Jean’s connection to MSH dates back to 1983, when they were among the first contributors to the hospital’s original Building Fund. Since then, they have continued to give back in so many ways. Jean has served on the MSH Foundation Board since 2018, and together, she and Les have also chosen to include MSH Foundation in their Will, helping ensure future generations can continue to access exceptional care close to home.

Thank you, Les and Jean, for your longstanding commitment to MSH and for continuing to make a lasting difference for patients and families for years to come.

There’s something powerful about women coming together with a shared purpose.

Thrive WITH MSH brought that spirit to life through an afternoon of thoughtful conversation and meaningful connection in support of Oak Valley Health 's Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH).

Jeanne Beker joined CBC’s Angie Seth for a fireside chat reflecting on the experiences that have shaped her life and career, while Oak Valley Health’s Dr. Jeya T. Nadarajah shared valuable insights into gut health and emerging evidence on the microbiome.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special.

When Julie Atkinson turned 50, a routine mammogram was simply one more thing on her calendar. This routine screening marked the beginning of a breast cancer journey that would change her life.

After nearly 29 years as a Child Life Specialist at Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH), Julie was used to being the one helping children and families through difficult moments. Suddenly, she was the patient, relying on her colleagues for the same comfort and reassurance she had offered to others throughout her career.

From the fear of her diagnosis to ringing the bell on her last day of chemotherapy, Julie’s experience gave her a whole new perspective on the hospital she has long called home. 💙

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing Julie’s story and her important reminder about the difference screening and early detection can make.
