Being Proud Out Loud. 🇨🇦🥇
Today, we have a lot to be proud of.
Companion is featured in the Summer 2026 issue of ParaSport Magazine, but what makes this story even more meaningful is knowing it helped support Canada's Paralympic wheelchair curling team on their journey to an undefeated gold medal at the Milano-Cortina Paralympic Games—the country's first Paralympic wheelchair curling gold since Sochi 2014.
Before the Games, Cheelcare provided every member of Team Canada with a Companion power-assist device, helping the athletes conserve energy as they navigated the Paralympic Village and the cobblestone streets of Cortina, so they could focus on what mattered most—competing at their best.
As Team Canada skip Mark Ideson shared:
"It helped us move through the village and around Cortina, especially over cobblestone roads, which saved a lot of energy during our long 11-game event. At a Paralympic Games, where every bit of focus and physical capacity matters, that energy conservation is critical."
Mark also shared that Companion allowed him to fully enjoy another unforgettable moment—serving as Team Canada's flagbearer during the Closing Ceremony.
Stories like this remind us why we do what we do. Every day, our goal is to help people go farther, do more, and stay independent longer. Seeing Companion make a difference on the world's biggest stage is something we'll never forget.
Congratulations to Mark Ideson, Ina Forrest, Jon Thurston, Collinda Joseph, and Gilbert Dash on an incredible, undefeated achievement. 🇨🇦
Thank you for letting us be a small part of your journey.
