Summer means cottages, road trips, festivals, sporting events, construction projects, camps, and time spent outdoors with family and friends.

But while we spend a lot of time planning the fun, many people overlook planning for the unexpected.

Every year, Canadians face preventable emergencies including heat exhaustion, dehydration, burns, drowning incidents, allergic reactions, choking emergencies, and sudden cardiac arrest. The difference between a close call and a tragedy often comes down to preparation.

Ask yourself:

✔ Do you know where the nearest AED is located?
✔ Does someone in your group know CPR?
✔ Is your first aid kit fully stocked?
✔ Do you have emergency contact information readily available?
✔ Would you know what to do if someone stopped breathing?

Taking a few simple steps before summer activities begin can make a life-saving difference when every second counts.

At Rescue 7, we're proud to help workplaces, families, camps, cottages, and organizations across Canada build confidence through training, AED programs, and emergency preparedness solutions.

Because emergencies don't wait for convenience—and neither should preparedness.

From festivals and tournaments to camps, community celebrations, charity runs, and corporate gatherings, bringing people together creates incredible experiences.

It also creates responsibility.

When large groups gather, organizers should consider:

✔ Emergency response planning
✔ First aid coverage
✔ AED accessibility
✔ Heat-related illness prevention
✔ Communication procedures
✔ Emergency evacuation plans

While we all hope emergencies never happen, preparation ensures teams can respond quickly and effectively if they do.

Heat exhaustion, dehydration, allergic reactions, slips and falls, and cardiac emergencies can happen at any public gathering.

Having trained personnel, medical equipment, and a response plan in place helps event organizers create safer environments for participants, spectators, volunteers, and staff.

Rescue 7 proudly supports events across Canada with trained personnel, CPR demonstrations, AED solutions, and emergency preparedness expertise.

Because great events aren't just memorable—they're prepared.

For many Canadians, the cottage is where summer memories are made.

But remote locations can also present unique challenges during an emergency.

Whether you're spending weekends at the lake, hosting family gatherings, or welcoming guests throughout the season, it's important to think beyond sunscreen and life jackets.

Consider these cottage safety essentials:

🚤 Always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating
🔥 Keep fire pits supervised and extinguished completely
🩹 Maintain a fully stocked first aid kit
📱 Know your exact address or GPS coordinates for emergency responders
🧯 Check smoke alarms and fire extinguishers regularly
❤️ Consider having an AED available on-site

In many cottage communities, ambulance response times can be significantly longer than in urban areas. During a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation decreases the chance of survival.

Having an AED nearby can provide immediate treatment while emergency services are on their way.

Preparation doesn't take away from the fun—it protects it.

Before your next weekend at the lake, take a few moments to review your emergency plan and ensure everyone knows what to do if help is needed.

Start today. Save a life tomorrow.

Emergencies can happen when you least expect them... like when you're enjoying a summer afternoon when someone suddenly collapses nearby.

They're unresponsive.
They're not breathing normally.
What happens next?

Knowing these steps could save a life:

1️⃣ Call 911 immediately.
2️⃣ Send someone to try to locate an AED.
3️⃣ Begin chest compressions in the centre of the chest.
4️⃣ If found, turn on the AED and follow the voice prompts.
5️⃣ Continue CPR until emergency responders arrive.

During sudden cardiac arrest, every minute matters.

Without intervention, survival rates decrease significantly with each passing minute.

The good news? You don't need to be a medical professional to help.

CPR and AED training provide the knowledge and confidence needed to respond effectively until professional help arrives.

The question isn't whether an emergency will happen.
The question is whether someone nearby will know what to do.

We’re proud to support this mission by providing the AEDs that make these donations possible.

Each unit represents more than just equipment—it’s a second chance, a safer community, and a legacy that continues to save lives.

This is what it means to go beyond the product. To be part of something bigger.
