How do you respond to disrespect and unfairness?
Reading a Hong Kong Artist Angela Yuen’s post today really resonated with me❤️ Develop my own business as a woman, I’ve experienced what it feels like to have my boundaries violated. Especially when power dynamics are at play, people love to dismiss it: “Take it easy,” “Don’t make a scene,” “They were just joking.” The silence in the room often speaks louder than the offence itself. To anyone who carries the weight of freezing in that moment: not fighting back right away doesn’t mean you failed. It wasn’t your fault.

Offer a gentle and understanding embrace to yourself who was simply trying to navigate the shock🫂

We never know how much a family is carrying🏡 Social worker is not to collect evidence to prove whether parents are right or wrong, nor is it to judge whether a law was broken. The primary focus is always the best interests and well-being of the child.

In practice, we focus on three core areas:
1️⃣Immediate Safety: Ensuring the child is not in danger. If safety is compromised, temporary placement in a safe environment may be needed.
2️⃣Potential Risks: Evaluating daily living conditions and parenting to understand the child‘s basic needs are being met.
3️⃣Long-Term Development: Supporting the child’s lasting physical and mental health.

”Let’s be honest: watching someone crash and burn can feel surprisingly satisfying.“
But why do we get that sudden feeling of pleasure? Does it mean we’re missing an empathy? 😲Not really. It doesn‘t make you a bad person. The reaction is actually a defense mechanism. It indicates directly to our own vulnerability and needs for security.

What broke my heart the most wasn’t just the assault, but the silence of those who witnessed it and chose never to speak up. It reminded me that high academic achievement means nothing if we neglect the core values of human kindness and compassion. We need an education system and family environment that place empathy at the very center of learning. Silence in the face of harm is a choice, and it‘s time we teach ourselves and the children to be kind and courage instead.

When the world feels like a mess, what do you fear the most? Faced with life’s chaos and helpless, it’s normal to doubt our own worth and feel lost. 🇨🇦Watching the play Corner Bookshop for the first time in Toronto helped me reflecting our own story It was a gentle reminder that no matter how disorienting things get, the pen is still in our hands, and we choose how we narrate our storyline.✍🏼

Back in Hong Kong, I used to work crazy overtime and thought filling every moment of my days off meant living life to the fullest. I realized that for many working professionals, the biggest source of anxiety comes from feeling guilty just for resting. After starting my own business, I learned a crucial lesson💡: learning to slow down is the most important course I’ve ever taken.
We get so used to proving our worth through busyness that we forget our minds need blank space, too. Slowing down isn’t about standing still it’s giving your brain a chance to reset and reclaim control. “Wasting” time on yourself is actually the ultimate form of self-care.

❤️You never know what someone is going through behind closed doors.

👥Body figure anxiety is real, and judgment only adds to the weight. Treat others with the same empathy you’d hope to receive because none of us want strangers picking us apart.

🏳️‍🌈✨In June, the city was full of celebration. But as the festive crowd disperses, many are still left to face the scrutiny and misunderstanding of those around them alone. When reality’s judgmental gaze returns, how do we anchor ourselves? Here are two ways to protect your peace:

1️⃣Filter out the external noise. When you hear deeply disrespectful remarks, remind yourself: Their words only reflect their own narrow worldview and limitations. They are absolutely not a reflection of your worth.

2️⃣Build an internal “secure base.” When family or colleagues cross the line and say things that feel suffocating or disrespectful, you do not need to engage in a heated argument right then and there, nor do you have to swallow your pain in silence.

Instead, try this: Place your hand over your heart. Take 3 deep breaths. Quietly tell yourself: “The world outside is noisy, but in this very moment, I am safe.” Use this concrete physical gesture to establish a secure base for yourself within the real world.

❤️No matter how chaotic the outside world becomes, everyone has the right to be themselves safely and authentically.
