We live in a world where availability is often mistaken for care. It’s easy to feel like every notification deserves an immediate response, even when you’re busy, resting, or already at your limit. But your kindness or commitment is not tied to how quickly you respond. You have permission to not answer every text immediately.

You can be grateful and grieving. Relieved and heartbroken. Hopeful and afraid. Life often brings emotions that seem to contradict each other, but they can both be true at the same time. You have permission to feel two conflicting emotions without believing something is wrong with you.

Many of us learned that sadness is a problem to solve rather than an emotion to experience. We do whatever we can to distract ourselves, think positively, or move on before we’ve had a chance to process why we’re feeling what we’re feeling. But not every emotion needs to be fixed. You have permission to feel sad without immediately trying to fix it.

Who taught us that needing support is something we should outgrow?

Many of us learned that love is something we have to earn by performing, pleasing, achieving, or meeting everyone else’s expectations. But genuine love isn’t a reward for being useful or perfect. Your worth isn’t determined by what you do for others. You have permission to be loved without earning it.

Many of us learned to stay quiet, keep the peace, or make ourselves smaller so others could be comfortable. But your thoughts, feelings, and experiences matter too. Taking up space in conversations may feel selfish or attention-seeking, but being considerate doesn’t mean becoming invisible. You have permission to speak up and let your voice be heard.

Many of us hold onto relationships out of history, guilt, or hope that things will change. But not every relationship is meant to last forever. Outgrowing a relationship doesn’t make you selfish or ungrateful. It may simply mean you’ve changed. You have permission to let go of relationships that no longer support your well-being.
