🐎🐂 A BIG THANK YOU TO SUCKER CREEK NATION! 🐂🐎

I want to send a HUGE thank you to Sucker Creek Nation for inviting me back this past weekend to provide veterinary coverage for another incredible event! ❤️

This was my second time being invited out, and once again, it was an absolute pleasure to be there!

Between the Indian Relay Races, bull riding, and bronc riding, there was definitely no shortage of excitement! 🤠🔥🐎

Indian Relay is such an incredible sport to watch — fast, intense, and requiring an unbelievable amount of horsemanship, athleticism and teamwork. Add bulls and broncs to the mix, and you’ve got one heck of a weekend!

I’m always grateful for the opportunity to be there to help keep the equine and bovine athletes safe and supported throughout the event. Being trusted to provide veterinary coverage is something I don't take lightly, and I truly appreciate the hospitality and warm welcome every time I come out.

Farewell & Best Wishes to Dr. Burow🐄

After 7 incredible years with our clinic, we are saying goodbye to someone who has become such an important part of our team. It is with great sadness that we announce that Dr. Burow is leaving PRVS at the end of September.

Dr. Burow joined our clinic 7 years ago fresh out of vet school to pursue his career in large animal veterinary medicine. We are so honored to have been a stepping stone in his journey.

Over the years, he has cared for countless cattle, supported our producers, shared his knowledge, and become a valued part of our veterinary family. His dedication to his patients and the people he works alongside has made a lasting impact on our clinic and our community.

While we are definitely going to miss having him around, we are so incredibly happy for him, and excited to see where this next chapter takes him. Change is never easy, especially when saying goodbye to someone who has been such a big part of our team, but we know there are great things ahead for him.

Thank you for 7 years of hard work, dedication, laughs, long days, and everything you've brought to our clinic. You will be missed more than you know! ❤️

Just a quick reminder for everyone — I’ll have limited hours this coming weekend (12th & 13th) as I’ll be busy vetting the Indian Relay Races in High Prairie! 🐎💨

I’ll still be keeping an eye on messages and doing my best to accommodate urgent needs, but my availability will definitely be more limited than usual

🍂🐄 IT'S WEANING TIME! PART 2 🐄🍂

Well folks… whether we're ready for it or not, weaning season is here! 😅

And with weaning comes one of the biggest stress events our calves will experience.

So... have you heard of FerAppease® or CattleZen™? 👀

Honestly, it's kind of the Frank's RedHot of the cattle world... I put that 💩 on everything! 😂 If you get it, you get it! 🤣

Both are products designed to help reduce the stress response in cattle using pheromone-based technology. The idea is to help cattle stay calmer through stressful events such as:

🐄 Weaning (originally created for this purpose but has since found other uses)
🚛 Transportation
💉 Processing and vaccination
🐂 Mixing cattle
🏷️ Other stressful management events

🧠 Why does this matter?

Stress isn't just about calves bawling at the gate. Stress can affect:
• Feed intake
• Immune function
• Growth and performance
• How cattle handle processing
• Overall animal welfare

There is some interesting research behind these products, although results aren't identical across every study or situation. As always, it's about using the right tools for the right operation rather than expecting a magic fix. 😉

🐄 FerAppease uses an artificial component similar to Maternal Bovine Appeasing Substance (mBAS), while CattleZen is designed to promote a calming response. Both are applied topically rather than injected.
