As the end of Mental Health Awareness Month approaches, we want to remind you of a simple but vital truth: You are not alone, and support is here. Navigating mental health challenges can feel overwhelming, but our community has many free, low-cost, and specialized resources ready to help you or someone you love thrive.

We know we may have missed some and apologize for that. Please feel free to add additional resources that are not included in these pictures in the comments section.

Be kind to your mind—you are not alone and you matter.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Mental health matters every day — not just during moments of crisis, but in the small everyday experiences of stress, connection, healing, resilience, and hope.

This year’s theme, “Come Together, Canada: Stronger connections, better mental health,” reminds us that supportive relationships and compassionate communities can make a powerful difference in people’s lives.

Checking in with someone.
Listening without judgment.
Asking for help.
Taking time to rest.
Showing kindness to yourself and others.

These moments matter.

Let’s continue reducing stigma, creating safe spaces for conversation, and reminding one another that nobody has to struggle alone.

What looks like a “simple” task… often isn’t simple at all.

For many autistic individuals, transitions aren’t just one step—they’re dozens of small shifts happening all at once.
Starting, stopping, deciding, adjusting, planning, regulating… over and over again.

👉 That’s why transitions can feel overwhelming, exhausting, or even impossible some days.

Because support isn’t about pushing through—it’s about reducing the number of transitions where we can.

✔️ Can we remove a step?
✔️ Can we make a step easier?
✔️ Can we prepare ahead of time?
✔️ Can the environment or another person help?

Small changes can make a big difference.

Less transitions = less overwhelm 💙

Building a world that is neuro-inclusive starts with how we connect in our most intimate relationships. Traditional “Love Languages” are often built on neuro-normative expectations, but the way neurodivergent people experience and express affection is uniquely beautiful, deeply intentional, and deserves its own framework.

Understanding these languages isn’t just “nice”—it’s a vital act of neuro-affirming care. It reduces the exhaustion of masking and creates a space where we all can be loved for our authentic selves, not for how well we perform social “norms.”

When we bridge the gap between traditional and neurodivergent expressions of love, we:
✅ Validate natural communication instead of forcing “politeness.”
✅ Combat masking by creating safe spaces for authentic connection.
✅ Foster deeper intimacy based on mutual respect for our unique brains.

Whether you are neurodivergent or an ally, leaning into these languages is a powerful way to say, “I see you, and I love the way your mind works.”

Camouflaging in autism is often invisible—and often misunderstood.

Many autistic individuals mask to meet social expectations. It can help in the moment, but it often comes at a cost.

Unmasking isn’t about changing who someone is—it’s about creating spaces where they don’t have to hide.

When we shift from expecting people to “fit in” to making environments safer and more accepting, we reduce the need for camouflaging.

Understanding matters. Acceptance makes the difference. Neurodivergent
