One very special summer volunteer deserves a proper send-off.

All summer long, Bayfield House Retirement Lodge had the pleasure of welcoming Liv, who volunteered her time each Thursday to join in all of the community fun happening around here, including calling bingo, dealing cards, and spending quality time with our residents.

As summer comes to an end and Liv heads back to school, we’re sending her off with a very big Bayfield House THANK YOU for the time, energy and kindness she brought through our doors each week.

Have an amazing school year, Liv. Thursdays won’t be quite the same without you!

UP, UP… AND FINALLY AWAY!

After a whole summer of waiting, watching the weather and hoping for the right conditions, Muskoka Landing Retirement Lodge resident Cheryl’s Better Late Than Never wish finally took flight.

This week, the wind was just right, the sky was beautifully blue, and Cheryl, joined by some friends, climbed aboard a hot air balloon to experience something she had been waiting a long time to do.

Some dreams are worth waiting for. This was absolutely one of them.

A huge thank you to Katie Rowe and the RE/MAX team for sticking with us through a summer of uncooperative weather and helping us make this incredible experience happen for Cheryl.

The forecast finally said yes. So up she went.

Muskoka Landing Retirement Lodge has officially gone to the dogs!

In honour of International Dog Day, our thoughtful team organized a Pup Parade and welcomed a whole pack of four-legged visitors to the Lodge. Tails were wagging, residents were delighted, and there was no shortage of attention for our furry guests.

There’s something brewing behind the scenes at Leacock… and it has wheels!

For the past few weeks, residents Susan, Alec and Ross have been busy painting, woodworking and creating custom magnets for our brand-new Leacock Party Cart!

It’s still a work in progress, but once complete, this little cart could become just about anything. An ice cream social on wheels? A pop-up cocktail bar? Smoothies making the rounds? Coffee delivered straight to your door?

Our Art Committee will help dream up each new theme, while the cart itself will proudly stay dressed in Leacock colours.

The party is officially going mobile! Did you expect anything less around here?

Some summer traditions are simply too good to give up.

With just a couple of weeks left in corn season, residents at Waterside Retirement Lodge got busy shucking and making the most of one of our favourite local summer harvests to enjoy during a meal together.

Moving into a retirement community doesn’t mean leaving behind the things you’ve always loved doing. Around here, they carry on, often with a few more hands around the table and some new friends to enjoy them with.

Many hands make light work, and fresh local corn makes a pretty great reward.

Here’s something you might not know about Leacock Retirement Lodge. It has its very own art gallery!

The Leacock Art Gallery has just had its fall refresh, featuring original works by 12 residents and three staff members. There was so much creativity to showcase this time around that they even had to expand onto the neighbouring walls.

Residents of St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge have been tasting their way through summer!

First came a Watermelon Social, where residents got busy in the kitchen making fresh watermelon and feta salads. Then came Lemonade Day, complete with sweet, refreshing sips served straight from our very own lemonade stand.

Well, howdy there, partners! This fun-loving duo from Bayfield House Retirement Lodge recently moseyed on over to Tiny Town in Town of Penetanguishene, where they wasted absolutely no time getting into character.

Wild West attire? Check. A ride on the chuck wagon? Naturally. Pulling up a seat at the saloon? It would’ve been rude not to!

Just another day proving that there’s always time for a little horsin’ around during retirement!
