We are so fortunate to live in a community that comes together to support inclusion and belonging. Thank you to everyone who joined us today at the Hank Snow Museum to celebrate Disability Pride Month. Your support helps create a community where people with disabilities are valued, included, and empowered to build a good life in community.

We were honoured to welcome our Mayor Scott Christian, our MLA Kim Masland, members of the QASL Board of Directors, and so many family and community members. Your presence and support mean so much to us. Thank you for helping make this celebration so meaningful.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped organize and make this celebration a success. A special thank you to Colby and Kayla for doing an outstanding job welcoming everyone and for sharing such thoughtful and inspiring words about Disability Pride. We are so proud of you both!

Thank you as well to the Hank Snow Hometown Museum for co-hosting this event with us, especially Michelle for all of her support in helping make today a success. Together, we’re building a more inclusive community where everyone belongs.

Event Update: Disability Pride Month Celebration Rescheduled!

Due to the forecasted rain, we have made the decision to postpone our Disability Pride Month Celebration to Wednesday, July 29, from 12:00–2:30 p.m. at the Hank Snow Museum.

While we’re disappointed to postpone, we’re looking forward to celebrating together next week with country music, classic cars, lawn games, great food, and community connection.

Disability Pride Month celebrates people with disabilities, recognizes the diversity of the disability community and their experiences, and promotes inclusion, accessibility, and belonging. Like many awareness movements, it has its own flag and symbols that represent the diversity of our community. Our celebration is simply an invitation for everyone to come together, connect, and celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities.

We are incredibly grateful for the many messages of encouragement and support we’ve received from our community over the past few days. Your kindness reminds us that Queens County is a community where everyone belongs.

We hope you’ll join us next Wednesday, July 29, as we celebrate Disability Pride Month together. 💙

🎉 Update! 🎉 Queens Neighbourhood Co-operative Housing Ltd. (QNCH) is still accepting applications for the 30 NEW affordable rental units in the Trestle Way Neighbourhood in Liverpool, located on 2.6 acres adjacent to Lawrence Street, Amherst Street, Queen Street Extension, and the Trestle Trail.

🎉Please refer to the QNCH website for details, eligibility criteria and the application form: www.qnch.ca , or pick up an application and eligibility criteria at the Municipal Administration Building, the office for Kim Masland, MLA for Queens , or from Region of Queens Municipality's Senior Safety Coordinator. ** please note that the applications in the pick-up locations are paper, and Region of Queens Municipality does not have a link to an electronic submission form.

All applications are processed by QNCH and all questions should be directed to QNCH by calling 902-343-1012. 📲

The QNCH Board has worked tirelessly to advance this project, and bring their vision to reality of having more affordable housing options in Queens County! Congratulations to them on this milestone in the project!! 🎉

This is a great opportunity for residents who need affordable housing to apply for housing/co-op membership for these wonderful new units.

Region of Queens Municipality is pleased to have provided support through a donation of land and funds when the QNCH Board of Directors approached Council with their vision to address the community's growing need for affordable housing by building co-operative housing.

A big thank you to Kelly from the Privateer Days organizing committee for stopping by our office recently to present us with our 1st Place Parade Trophy! 🏆

We had such a great time being part of this year’s Privateer Days. Events like these bring our community together, create lasting memories, and remind us what makes Queens County such a special place to live.

Congratulations to the organizers on a successful Privateer Days weekend! Thank you for all the time and effort that goes into making this celebration happen each year.

We are honoured by this recognition and grateful to everyone who helped make our parade entry possible, especially staff members Trish, Kaitlin and Riley who are pictured below.

We were thrilled that so many residents and clients wanted to participate in the parade. Thank you for representing QASL with such pride and enthusiasm! We can’t wait to celebrate again next year! 🎉

Queens Association for Supported Living is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing choices and opportunities to adults with disabilities. Our mission is to empower individuals to live fulfilling lives through person-directed planning, advocacy and support as they reach for their dreams and make decisions about their own lives.

Job Scope and Purpose:
Under the general direction of the Vocational Manager, Day Program Instructors work within a team in support of the successful operation of day program/community inclusion services, providing choice and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Day Program Facilitators provide direct support to people with disabilities according to their personal support needs and desired outcomes; and in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and policies and procedures of QASL. Areas of opportunities include (but not limited to) training and skill development, volunteerism, recreational/social, community inclusion and wage-based employment. The Day Program Instructor assists with the assessment of personal outcomes, training and skill development as well as providing ongoing support to ensure a high quality of service to participants. We currently have openings for two permanent part-time (35 hours per week).

Qualifications:
-Diploma in Disability Supports and Services or equivalent is considered an asset
-Experience supporting people with disabilities
-An understanding of the Remedy and community Inclusion
-Core Competency Certifications
-Effective, diverse communication skills
-Detail-oriented team player
-Willingness to learn and grow both professionally and personally
-Ability to work well both independently and within a team
-Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build relationships with clients, families, coworkers and community partners
-Sense of humor
-Willingness to explore new opportunities
-Flexibility with scheduling
-Recent suitable Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector search
-Grade 12
-Valid driver’s license and clean Drivers Abstract
-Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety practices
-Program specific experience considered an asset

On the job training and ongoing certification will be provided by QASL. Competitive wages start at $23.70 (after Core Competency certification provided by QASL) with annual increments.
