Everyone blames the turkey for the post-dinner crash. Turkey does contain tryptophan (an amino acid that your body uses to help make sleep hormones), but no more than chicken, eggs or other proteins, so it’s not what’s knocking everyone out. The bigger factors are the size of the meal, all the carbs (stuffing, potatoes, pie), maybe a glass of w**e, and a busy day. After a big meal, your nervous system shifts into “rest and digest” mode, slowing you down so your body can focus on digestion.

It’s one more reminder that your nervous system is running the show... energy, digestion, sleep, all of it. That’s why we look at how it’s working, not just where it hurts. We test. We don’t guess.

Be honest... how many of these are you guilty of? We’ve all been there.

Your body does a lot of heavy lifting this weekend, literally. A few small swaps (two trips, a stretch break, a walk after the pie) can save you from feeling it all week. And if “my back’s fine” has become your yearly tradition... this is your sign to actually get it checked. We test. We don’t guess.
