Watching Friends for the fifth time, scrolling TikTok for twenty minutes, playing video games, binge watching reality TV you'd never admit to in public… these are valid coping strategies. 👏👏👏

A lot of people get stuck thinking that what they do to recharge has to be productive, or meaningful, or something they can tell other people about without feeling embarrassed. However, the thing about coping is that it doesn't have to look or be impressive, it just has to work for YOU.

Most things in reasonable doses aren't the problem, junk food has its place, so does junk TV, and yes, anime absolutely counts!!!

If it brings you joy, helps you relax, or just gives your brain a break from everything else going on, that's enough of a reason. 🫶

More communities, more connections, more people getting access to great therapy. 🫶

Watching BB grow across Ontario has been one of the most gratifying things to be part of. Every new space is another connection point and another neighbourhood where someone can walk through a door and find the support they've been looking for.

More and more people are finding their way back to in-person therapy too, which we love to see. There's something really special about being in the room that matters to a lot of people, and we're so glad that we get to offer that in more places now.

Swipe through to see where you can find us. 💙

If this is you, you are not alone…👇👇👇

Walking into that first session without knowing where to start is more common than you think, so here's something worth trying to make therapy feel a little less daunting.

Picture yourself a few months into therapy, sitting there thinking "I'm so glad I did this!" and ask yourself these 3 questions:

1. What would have had to change for you to feel that way?
2. What does your life look like in that version?
3. How do you feel when you wake up?

That's your starting point and everything else gets figured out from there.

Most people come to therapy because something in their life isn't quite what they hoped it would be. That feeling, even when it's vague and hard to put into words, is more than enough to start with.

Show up, tell us about your life and we'll figure out the rest together. 💙

Therapist Spotlight! Julie Stevens, MACP, RP (Qualifying)

🌟 Offering Individual, Couple, and Family therapy
🌟 Available in Markham and via Phone/Video
🌟 Sessions in English, Arabic, and French

Julie didn’t plan on becoming a therapist. She spent years working overseas supporting women and children in conflict zones, then came home and found herself navigating a whole different kind of challenge, getting her own kids the support they needed for ADHD, Autism, and complex mental health needs. That experience is what led her here.

She specializes in neurodiversity, women’s hormonal health across the lifespan pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause, anxiety, depression, cognitive and learning disabilities, Alzheimer’s, and caregiver support.

She works with all ages, kids through elders. Julie draws from IFS, somatic therapy, mindfulness, expressive arts, and CBT, but the through-line in her work is simple: you’re the expert on your own life, and she’s here to help you remember that.

A lot of people assume family therapy is a last resort, something you turn to when things have really fallen apart, but most of the time, people come in simply because something in the family dynamic feels off and they want to figure out why.

Maybe it’s a parent who notices their child struggling, or siblings who love each other but can't seem to stop butting heads, or a family that just got some really hard news and has no idea how to navigate it together.

What makes family therapy different is that the relationship itself is what's being worked on, not just the individuals in it, and that changes things in a way that individual sessions alone sometimes can't.

If there's a relationship in your life that could use some support, we'd love to help you figure out where to start.

Therapist Spotlight! Theepan Tharumalingam, MA, RP (Qualifying)

🌟 Offering Individual, Couple, and Family therapy
🌟 Available in Guelph and via Phone/Video

Theepan believes that the physical and mental are inseparable, and has dedicated his work to that idea. He comes to therapy with a holistic, collaborative approach, working alongside clients to understand their unique story and build a path forward together.

He works with clients navigating anxiety, ADHD, trauma, relationship issues, and psychosis and brings his own lived experience with mental health challenges to the work. Sessions are available in English and German.

That feeling of anxiety that comes out of “nowhere”. Except, it didn’t come from nowhere…

It came from the news you scrolled through before you even got out of bed, the traffic that had you gripping the wheel. The notifications that never really stop. The world feeling like a lot, all the time.

We’re carrying so much more than we give ourselves credit for, and then we wonder why our nervous system is struggling to keep up.

So if you’ve been feeling on edge lately more than usual, for no “real” reason, maybe the reason is just that you’re human, living through a genuinely overwhelming time. Give yourself some grace. You’re doing better than you think. 🤍

We asked our team what brought them into this work and reading through their answers gave us all the feels. 🥹🥹🥹

At the heart of this work is a genuine love for people, a curiosity about what makes them tick, what helps them heal, and what it takes to get from stuck to okay.

It takes a certain kind of optimism to choose this work. The belief that there's good in the world, and that showing up for people is one of the best ways to add to it.

We feel SO lucky to have this group of humans on our team. 💙
