For three generations, the Middleton family has turned to Trillium Health Partners for care.

At age 15, Linda Middleton's son Jason was diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis. He underwent multiple life-saving surgeries at Trillium Health Partners under the care of Dr. Dana Wilson.

Dr. Wilson "prevented me from dying," says Jason. "I grew about three inches through my surgery, where they went in and put the rods in and straightened my spine."

To say thank you for the care her family received, Jason's grandmother Eva Middleton left a gift to Trillium Health Partners Foundation in her will. She and her husband Bernard were repeat patients at Trillium Health Partners, and their daughter Linda also delivered her fourth baby at Trillium Health Partners Credit Valley Hospital.

"They wouldn't have gone anywhere else," Linda says about her parents. "They were dedicated to Credit Valley Hospital . . . They just had this huge, huge comfort and trust."

The list of procedures Eva and Bernard underwent included treatment for a heart attack, and "three new hips, and at least two knees . . . [and] several pacemakers," says Linda. "I think every unit was used by my parents over the years, so it became quite a familiar place for us to be."

25 years of light, community and giving back.

The Trillium Diwali Gala, Canada's first and largest Diwali gala, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year!

It began in 2002 with a few hundred guests and an idea from Dr. Vir Sennik, an orthopaedic surgeon at Trillium Health Partners. Last year more than 1,100 people filled the ballroom.

Co-chair Sapna Mehta has been part of it for 15 years: "Everybody here is like a family."

Fellow Co-chair and longtime donor Nishan Minhas gives back because of the compassionate care both of his parents received. "Trillium [Health Partners] has always come through for me."

This year, the goal is to raise more than $1.4 million to help build The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, the Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, and expanded care at the Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre.
