🟠 GROIN pain but your tests are NORMAL? This might be why.

You've had the scans. You've had the bloodwork. Maybe even the hip and pelvis exams. Everything comes back ✅ normal.

But the pain is still there. ❌

Here's what often gets missed: groin pain doesn't always start in the groin.

The nerves that supply the groin exit from your lower back. When one of those nerve roots is irritated—even mildly—it can send pain, aching, or a heavy feeling straight into the groin, while the local tests keep coming back clean.

👉 That's why we always check the nerves.

If your groin pain isn't responding to treatments aimed at the groin itself, it may be because the actual source is higher up—in the spine.

🛑 Healing sciatica doesn't start with pushing through pain.

It starts with the opposite—gentle spinal extension that helps calm irritation and reminds your nervous system that movement is safe again.

Try this simple 3-step routine to begin:

1️⃣ Prone Lying
Fully relax on your belly and let the spine unload. This is where the reset begins—before you add any movement at all.

2️⃣ Prone on Elbows
Prop up onto your forearms and gently introduce extension. No forcing, no straining—just easing the spine into a slightly different shape.

3️⃣ Extension in Lying
Only progress here if the first two feel okay. Slow, controlled, and always pain-aware.

This isn't about intensity. It's about giving the nerve space to settle so your body can do what it's already trying to do—heal.

✨ Move slowly
🌬️ Breathe
🛑 Stop if symptoms worsen

🧠 Why sciatica feels so different from person to person.

The sciatic nerve is made up of five spinal nerves—but three get irritated the most: L4, L5, and S1. And each one sends symptoms to a very specific part of your leg.

Here's how to read the map:

✅ L4 irritated → symptoms into the knee or shin
✅ L5 irritated → symptoms into the outer leg or top of the foot
✅ S1 irritated → symptoms into the calf or bottom of the foot

That's why two people can both have "sciatica" and describe completely different experiences—their pain is coming from different nerve roots.

The bonus? Knowing where you feel it helps us pinpoint exactly which nerve is involved, often without needing a scan.

🌅 Does getting out of bed make your sciatica worse?

It's not because you slept wrong — it's because of how you move in the morning.

These 3 common mistakes overload the sciatic nerve first thing after waking:

❌ Not engaging your core — your trunk takes too much load
❌ Letting your ribcage and pelvis move separately — twisting the spine under pressure
❌ Standing up too fast — your full body weight compresses the spine

Twisting plus compression is the perfect recipe for sciatic nerve irritation.

The good news? Once you move correctly, morning flare-ups get dramatically reduced.

🧠 The location of your symptoms tells us EXACTLY which nerve is irritated.

Sciatica isn't a one-size-fits-all diagnosis. Every nerve root exits your spine at a different level, and each one sends signals to a specific area of your leg and foot.

That means where you feel your pain, tingling, or weakness is one of the clearest clues to what's actually going on:

✅ Outer thigh or side of the leg → often a higher lumbar nerve
✅ Back of the thigh or calf → typically the sciatic nerve pathway
✅ Top of the foot or big toe → often points to L5
✅ Bottom of the foot or heel → often points to S1

This is why an accurate assessment matters. Two people can both call it "sciatica," but the actual nerve involved—and the right treatment approach—can be very different.

🦴 Why back-of-leg pain is sciatica, and front-of-leg pain isn't.

Not all leg pain is sciatica—and knowing the difference can save you a lot of confusion.

Here's a quick way to tell:

🔴 Back of the leg = Sciatic Nerve
Pain, tingling, or numbness running down the back of your leg is a classic sign of sciatic nerve irritation.

🔵 Front of the leg = Femoral Nerve
Pain down the front of your leg is a different nerve pathway entirely, and it points to a different cause.

Same leg, different nerves, different problem. That's why an accurate diagnosis matters more than guessing based on symptoms alone.

😰 Sciatic pain can feel scary—especially when it travels down the leg.

But healing doesn't start with pushing through pain.

It starts with gentle spinal extension that helps calm irritation and reminds the nervous system that movement is safe.

Here's a simple 3-step healing routine to start with:

1️⃣ Prone Lying
Let your body fully relax and unload the spine.

2️⃣ Prone on Elbows
Gently introduce extension without forcing range.

3️⃣ Extension in Lying
Only if tolerated—controlled, slow, and pain-aware.

This isn't about intensity. It's about giving the nerve space to settle.

✨ Move slowly

🧠 If your sciatica looks different from someone else's, you're not imagining it.

Sciatica doesn't feel the same for everyone—and there's a reason for that.

Your sciatic nerve carries two different types of fibers, and depending on which one is irritated, your symptoms can look completely different:

✅ Sensory fibers irritated → pain, burning, or tingling
✅ Motor fibers irritated → weakness, unsteadiness, or a heavy feeling in the leg

Neither version is "just in your head." Both are real signs your nerve needs attention.

Understanding which type you're dealing with helps guide the right approach to recovery.

💥 SCIATICA? 💥 These 3 moves help—when nothing else works.

These 3 simple positions actually let your body heal by reducing pressure on the nerve and letting the inflammation calm down.

1️⃣ Prone Lying
Lie flat on your belly and relax. Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

2️⃣ Prone Lying with Knees Bent
If prone lying feels okay, progress to this—bend your knees and hold. 3-5 reps.

3️⃣ Prone Lying on Elbows
Prop yourself up onto your elbows. Hold for 1 second, then go back down. 3 reps.
Once that feels comfortable, try it with your knees bent too. 3-5 reps.

Pay attention to how your body responds at each stage—if something feels worse, ease back to the previous step.
