Beginning this September, the Institute for Trauma and Stress Recovery will be offering an Affordable Therapy Program, providing reduced-cost counselling services delivered by master's-level student clinicians.

Our student clinicians are actively completing their graduate training in psychotherapy and are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-informed care. Throughout their placements, they receive regular supervision and guidance from our two experienced Clinical Directors, helping to ensure clients receive thoughtful, high-quality support.

This program is designed for individuals who may benefit from a more affordable therapy option while still receiving care in a supportive, professional environment.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or other concerns, we're here to help.

✨ Interested? Join our waitlist today.

Additional information about our student clinicians, session fees, and booking details will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we'd love to hear from you if you're interested in being among the first to access the program this fall.

When people hear "Institute for Trauma and Stress Recovery," they often assume we only provide trauma therapy. While trauma-informed care is at the heart of what we do, our team offers support for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, child and youth mental health, stress, life transitions, and more.

What makes our practice unique is the combination of specialized services and community accessibility. We believe our rural community deserves access to high-quality, specialized mental health care without needing to travel to larger cities.

Our team includes clinicians with diverse areas of expertise, offering services such as EMDR therapy, couples counselling, child psychotherapy, and Neuroptimal® Neurofeedback.

Beyond client care, we are passionate about supporting the future of the profession through student placements, clinical consultation, and ongoing professional development through supervision.

Whether you're looking for support for yourself, your child, your relationship, or your professional growth, we're here to help.

Curious about Neurofeedback? Now is a great time to try it.

Neurofeedback is a gentle, non-invasive way to help your brain learn healthier patterns of functioning. Many people use it to support concerns such as:
• Anxiety and stress
• Difficulty focusing
• Sleep challenges
• Emotional regulation
• Peak performance and overall brain wellness

At ITSR, Neurofeedback is provided by Cheryl Otto, a Registered Social Service Worker under the clinical supervision of a Registered Social Worker (MSW). Because of this, sessions are covered by most extended health insurance plans under psychotherapy.

Whether you're looking for an alternative to traditional therapy, want to complement the work you're already doing, or are simply curious about how Neurofeedback could help, we'd love to answer your questions.

Emotional safety means you can show up as yourself without fear of rejection, criticism, or withdrawal of connection.

For some, therapy becomes of the first spaces where this kind of safety is experienced consistently.

Belonging isn’t just emotional, it’s physiological. Humans are hard-wired to seek belonging because it enhances survival and safety.

When we don’t feel accepted or safe in relationships or environments, the nervous system can stay in a heightened state of alertness.

Many people learn to adapt by masking, shrinking, or changing parts of themselves in order to feel safe & accepted.

If you can relate -- you KNOW it's exhausting!

In our offices, authenticity is not only allowed, but welcomed and celebrated.

Healing does not happen only through techniques or strategies.

It also happens through feeling emotionally safe enough to be seen, understood, and accepted.

For many people, especially those who have experienced rejection, criticism, trauma, or identity-based stress, safety in relationships can deeply impact wellbeing.

We pride ourselves on creating space where clients feel respected, supported, and able to show up authentically.
