👋 Meet the people behind the Friends Foundation!

Over the next few months, we're introducing you to the amazing team that helps make your impact possible. Next up is Marc Belliveau, Director, Major Gifts.

💙Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in Moncton, NB where I am first and foremost a father to two boys and a husband to my amazing wife Leanne. My passion to help others has led me to a career working in Not-For profits for the past 13 years. I love to experience Atlantic Canada whether it is camping, spending time at our remote cabin, or any physical activity that gets me off the beaten path.

💙How would you explain your role to a friend?
My role is to listen to our donors and those in the community, better understand why health care matters to them, and see if there is an alignment between their gifts and the work that we do. I value relationships above all else and understand that the driving force behind a gift matters more than the value of the donation.

💙Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I have been watching the TV show "The West Wing" on repeat for the past 3 years. It is one of the only shows that I watch and can quote most of the episodes by heart.

💙What's a moment at work that reminded you why you do what you do?
I value relationships more than anything else, and fear that when people hear Director, Major Gifts, that it is just about large donations. This year one of our donors was hospitalized, and I had the opportunity to visit them in their hospital room. Near the end of our time together, they needed help putting on their socks and shoes, and I had the privilege to do this for them. I value human moments like this over anything else, as it is how true relationships are formed.

💙 From hospital rooms to the world stage.

At just 11 years old, Theo Labelle has already overcome more than most people face in a lifetime. After multiple life-saving heart surgeries at very young ages, Theo recently experienced a once-in-a-lifetime moment as an Official Match Ball Carrier at the FIFA World Cup. ⚽

While his love of soccer helped earn him the opportunity, it wasn’t the only reason he was chosen.

For the past 10 years, Theo and his mom Isabelle have organized an annual toy drive for children at The Moncton Hospital and the IWK Health Centre, bringing joy to young patients during the holidays. You can follow along to their journey at Fondation HEARTS Foundation. 🙌

💙 Des chambres d'hôpital jusqu'à la scène mondiale.

À seulement 11 ans, Theo Labelle a déjà surmonté plus d'épreuves que bien des gens n'en vivront au cours de toute une vie. Après avoir subi plusieurs chirurgies cardiaques qui lui ont sauvé la vie, Theo a récemment vécu un moment unique en étant choisi comme porteur officiel du ballon de match lors de la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA. ⚽

Son amour du soccer lui a permis de vivre cette expérience exceptionnelle, ce n’est pas la seule raison pour laquelle il a été choisi.

Depuis maintenant 10 ans, Theo et sa mère, Isabelle, organisent une collecte annuelle de jouets pour les enfants de L'Hôpital de Moncton et IWK Health Centre, apportant de la joie aux jeunes patients pendant le temps des Fêtes.
