👋 Meet the people behind the Friends Foundation!

Over the next few months, we're introducing you to the amazing team that helps make your impact possible. Next up is Annick Ouellette, Manager, Donor Experience.

💙Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Proud Acadian francophone from the beautiful village of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent—soyez fiers de t'chis vous êtes! I'm a grateful mom of two amazing kids (three if you ask Hope, our dog, who is absolutely convinced she's still the baby of the house). I've been happily married for 11 years, and my life is fueled by love, laughter, coffee, and whatever snacks my kids leave behind.

On my days off, you'll usually find me outside with my family, making the most of every season—or at the hockey rink. (Hockey parents...I know you know!) I've spent nearly 12 years working in health care philanthropy. I'm currently working toward my CFRE designation, and this September I'll be celebrating five years with the Friends Foundation!

💙How would you explain your role to a friend?
I work to ensure that every interaction with the Friends Foundation is a positive one and also to ensure that our donors feel seen, appreciated, and celebrated for the incredible difference their generosity makes in our community.

💙Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
After watching The Magic School Bus as a kid, I was convinced I had found my calling: becoming a paleontologist. I’m happy to report I had a very clear career plan at age 8… it just turns out life had a slightly different (and much less dinosaur-filled) plan for me!

💙What's one thing you hope donors or our community know about your work?
I hope our community knows that I genuinely care about the work that we do and about the people behind every gift. Whether a donation is large or small, it matters. Every gift contributes to our mission, helps improve health care in our community, and makes a difference. I want every donor to know that their generosity is seen, valued, and appreciated more than words can express.

Have questions about giving or want to learn more about the impact of your support? Annick would love to connect. Reach out at 📧 [email protected]

Gary and Trudy Steeves are long time monthly donors of the Friends Foundation. Today, they are sharing why donating monthly is the best option for them. 💙

"It is fair to say that Moncton Hospital has always been a part of my life since I was born at the old facility on King Street. Our children were born at the present location on Macbeath Avenue and family, friends and relatives have benefited from services of Moncton Hospital over the years. So, it is no surprise that the Friends Foundation has become a major recipient of our donation decisions. By deciding to make monthly donations it enables us to meet a budgeted annual amount. We also add to that by donating memorial gifts and by contributing to special fund-raising campaigns and projects supported by the Friends.

As a Moncton family, we realize the vital role The Moncton Hospital plays in serving the citizens of the Moncton area and beyond. The importance of maintaining and expanding the quantity and quality of the hospital's services and equipment is crucial as we expect our needs for these services will increase as we age and our community grows. This alone should motivate anyone considering becoming a monthly donator to the Friends Foundation." - Gary and Trudy Steeves.

Bravo Bill! 👏🙌

We are proud to congratulate Bill Whalen on being named a recipient of the 2026 Order of New Brunswick.

Bill has been an extraordinary champion of the Friends Foundation for many years. As a dedicated volunteer, former Board member, passionate advocate, and long-time donor, he has helped shape our organization and strengthen health care in our community.

Inspired by the memory of his wife, Lynn, Bill also founded Lynn's Lights, a community fundraising initiative that is making a meaningful difference for moms and their babies at The Moncton Hospital.

Those of us who have had the privilege of working alongside Bill have witnessed his unwavering generosity, quiet leadership, and deep commitment to helping others. His volunteer service and philanthropy have touched countless lives, making this honour both fitting and well deserved.

Congratulations, Bill, on this remarkable recognition. Thank you for your years of service, your leadership, and your unwavering dedication to our community. 💙

The names of the 10 new recipients who will be invested with the Order of New Brunswick were announced today as part of New Brunswick Day celebrations in Grand Falls.

The 2026 inductees are:

- Paul Marcel Albert, Caraquet
- Brian J. Francis, Elsipogtog First Nation
- Patsy Gallant, C.M., C.Q., Campbellton

- Émé Lacroix, Caraquet
- Patricia McKinney, Fredericton
- Edward L.D. McLean, Saint John
- Paul Ouellet, Moncton
