As we believe knowledge plays a vital role in achieving overall wellness, we would like to help demystify and guide how essential oils can be used on their own or part of a natural and complementary therapy to conventional medicine. We are dedicated to supporting your wellness journey toward homeostasis (balance of physical, emotional and mental wellness).

A common misconception is that if something is natural, it must be completely safe.

The truth is that "natural" does not automatically mean risk-free.

Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts. When used improperly, they may cause skin irritation, sensitization, phototoxic reactions, or other unwanted effects.

That's why aromatherapists emphasize:
• Proper dilution and dosage
• Age-appropriate use
• Individual health considerations
• Safe storage
• Following evidence-informed guidelines

For example, some citrus essential oils can increase sensitivity to sunlight, while others may not be appropriate for certain health conditions or medications.

Safety is not about fear. It's about using aromatherapy responsibly so you can enjoy its benefits while minimizing risk.

When in doubt, consult a qualified aromatherapist before incorporating essential oils into your wellness routine.

June is here, and with it comes a fresh opportunity to reset.

You don't need an elaborate wellness plan or a complete lifestyle makeover. Often, the most meaningful changes begin with simple daily habits.

This month, consider:
• Drinking more water
• Spending time outdoors
• Incorporating aromatherapy into your routine
• Practicing mindful breathing
• Prioritizing restful sleep
• Focusing on one achievable wellness goal

Small, consistent actions can help support your physical, emotional, and mental well-being over time.

Which wellness habit would you like to focus on this June? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.

A note from a naturopathic perspective: wellness is often supported by the foundations, hydration, sleep, movement, stress management, nutrition, and connection with nature. Aromatherapy can be a wonderful complement to these healthy lifestyle practices.

Hi, I’m Tresa. 💚

If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been here for a while, I’m really glad you’re still here.

I’m a certified aromatherapist and naturopath, and I’m the person behind Scented Path. I work with people who feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or just not quite like themselves, and help them find their way back to balance using aromatherapy and holistic support.

There are no quick fixes here and no one-size-fits-all solutions. Everything I do is personalized, whether it’s blends, sessions, or techniques like the M Technique. The goal is simple. Help your body and mind slow down, reset, and feel supported again.

Outside of work, I’m usually with a cup of herbal tea, enjoying quiet time, going for nature walks, or spending time with my family. I also believe a little bit of everyday magic goes a long way.

If any of this resonates with you, you’re in the right place.

Tell me, what kind of support do you need most right now? 🌿

Essential oils can be powerful tools for supporting well-being, but only when used with the right knowledge.

Aromatherapy is both an art and a science. The way an oil is selected, diluted, stored, and applied all influence the experience you get from it. Small details can make a big difference.

That is why education matters.

Learning how to use essential oils safely helps you build a routine that is effective, realistic, and supportive of your overall wellness goals.

If you want to deepen your understanding of aromatherapy, our workshops at Scented Path are designed to guide you step by step. You will learn practical techniques, safety guidelines, and ways to integrate essential oils into daily life.

In aromatherapy, details matter.

A common name is not enough to understand how an essential oil will behave. Two plants can share the same everyday name but differ in species, chemistry, and therapeutic action. The binomial name, genus and species, tells you exactly what plant you are working with and helps you anticipate its safety profile and effects.

For example, Lavandula angustifolia is typically associated with calming nervous system support, while Lavandula latifolia contains higher levels of camphor and may feel more stimulating. These differences are not subtle, they influence how the oil interacts with the body.

When choosing essential oils, always look for:

• The full botanical name
• The plant part used
• The extraction method

Precision is not about being technical. It is about using aromatherapy responsibly and effectively.

Understanding the plant source is one of the foundations of safe practice.

Aromatic Insight – Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

Botanical Family: Asteraceae
Extraction Method: Steam distillation
Plant Part Used: Flowering tops and aerial parts

Traditional and Aromatherapeutic Use
Yarrow has a long history in traditional European herbal practice and battlefield medicine. The genus name Achillea references Achilles, who is said to have used the plant for wounds. Traditionally valued for supporting skin repair, circulation, and inflammation modulation, yarrow is known in aromatherapy for its balancing effect on the nervous system and its affinity for irritated or reactive skin. Its aroma is herbaceous, slightly sweet, and grounding, making it supportive in blends for emotional steadiness and resilience.

Anti-Inflammatory and Skin Support
Yarrow essential oil contains chamazulene, which contributes to its deep blue color and is associated with anti-inflammatory activity. Research suggests compounds found in yarrow may support inflammatory modulation and skin comfort. In aromatherapy practice, it is often included in formulations for sensitive, reactive, or stressed skin.

Support in Stress and Emotional Regulation
Yarrow is often described as emotionally protective and stabilizing. Its grounding herbal profile may support nervous system regulation during periods of overwhelm or heightened sensitivity. Practitioners frequently use it in blends aimed at emotional boundaries and centering.

Some emotions don’t need solving.
They need steadiness.

When the nervous system feels heavy, stimulating scents can feel like pressure. Grounded floral blends work differently. They do not push the mood upward. They give the body a stable place to rest until the feeling moves on its own.

Use scent as an anchor. A short pause, a familiar aroma, and a supported posture can shift how the body holds the moment.

Try the blend when everything feels a bit full, not urgent, not anxious, just weighted.

If you want help choosing oils that match your patterns and daily rhythms, Scented Path offers gentle aromatherapy guidance and personalized support.

Sometimes the body does not need more input. It needs less noise.

Time in nature shifts the nervous system because the environment becomes predictable. Light changes gradually, sounds stay gentle, and movement slows. The brain stops scanning for stimulation and the body releases tension.

Naturopathy starts with regulation, not intervention. Consistent light, quiet surroundings, and time outdoors help the body settle before deeper support is added.

Even a few quiet minutes outside can influence sleep timing, digestion, focus, and overall tension. Not because nature treats disease, but because the body functions better in conditions it recognizes.

Step outside today without a task. No phone, no tracking, just presence.

If you want guidance building routines that support sleep, energy, digestion, and stress resilience, Scented Path offers holistic naturopathy consultations designed for real life.
