Hardstyle Kettlebell Mtl is a school where we teach people how to move better and encourage them to move often. We train movement patterns rather than muscle groups, and pay special attention to how each movement is performed, reinforcing quality over quantity. We emphasize and teach the skill of strength and flexibility/mobility, and strive for balance and symmetry in each, like Yin and Yang. Our

training philosophy can be compared to traditional Martial Arts because we challenge our students to “practice” rather than “workout”. We are about the underlying principles, not just the tools used. We train and teach through the use of minimal equipment, such as kettlebells and one’s own bodyweight because we believe that simplicity is key and less is more when focusing on attaining results. Our classes and programs are fun, effective, unique and stimulating for everyone, from beginners to athletes and all ages groups. We never compromise quality and our number one concern is “do no harm”. We are known for making strength and flexibility easy and attainable to anyone, and most of all enjoyable for life. Everyone that comes through our door goes though a movement assessment and is consulted for a training program to fit their schedule and budget. We set goals for our students and standards for them to achieve. We work our hardest to attain them together. For rates and hours, please visit www.hardstylekettlebell.ca

"This exercise is terrible for your back."

I've heard that comment more times than I can count.

The truth?

A kettlebell swing can absolutely bother your back...

IF you make these common mistakes:

- Squatting the swing
- Rounding your back
- Going down too early
- Hyperextending at the top
- Losing tension throughout the movement

The kettlebell isn't the problem.

The technique is.

A proper swing teaches:

- power
- bracing
- force transfer
- hip extension
- full-body tension

That's why two swings can look almost identical...

yet one builds strength and resilience while the other creates problems.

Stay tight.
Breathe behind the shield.
Generate force from the hips.

Power protects.

Have you ever been taught how to swing properly?

Let me know below.

Most men either:

- skip their warm-up completely
or
- waste 15 minutes doing random exercises.

I prefer a simple approach.

Before almost every kettlebell session, I make sure I hit:

- Halo → shoulders
- Prying Goblet Squat → hips
- Arm Bar → thoracic spine

Three movements.

Five minutes.

Big return on investment.

If you're stiff, beat up, or feel older than you should...

start here.

Simple beats complicated.

Save this for your next workout.

Most men don’t lack strength.

They leak power.

A weak swing usually comes from:

- loose posture
- poor breathing
- no bracing
- disconnected hips
- soft lockout

Power is not just effort.

It’s tension.
Timing.
Force transfer.

Stay tight.
Brace hard.
Explode through the hips.

Strength is a skill.

Most men over 40 are not underworked.

They’re over-stressed, under-recovered, and stuck in random high-intensity workouts that leave them destroyed.

You do NOT need to feel wrecked after every session to get stronger.

Power training done correctly builds:

- explosiveness
- strength
- athleticism
- recovery
- durability

without crushing your nervous system.

Simple.
Explosive.
Recoverable.
Repeatable.

That’s how men should train after 40.

THE FLOW COMPLEX 🏙️

One bell. Six movements. Single reps. Filmed in the back alleys of Montreal — graffiti, trash, real city texture and all.

The sequence:
• Swing
• Clean
• Press
• Squat
• Sn**ch
• Windmill

One rep of each, flowing into the next. This isn't about grinding — it's art, cardio, skill, and strength in one continuous practice. The kind of training that keeps you sharp, mobile, and powerful all at once.

And yeah — you'll see me get cut off mid-flow when someone walked through the shot. I kept my cool and kept going. That's the city. That's real life. Sometimes the best practice happens with interruptions.

Save this and flow through it in your next session 👊
