Here's a little more about Angelena:

Hi, I'm Angelena!

I'm an Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physical Therapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) with a passion for helping children build confidence, independence, and joy through meaningful play and everyday experiences.

Shelby and I had the privilege of working together for five years early in our careers, and those years helped shape the clinician I am today. We've always shared the same values: meeting children where they're at, celebrating their strengths, and creating therapy that is engaging, compassionate, and family-centred. After taking different career paths and continuing to grow professionally, it feels incredibly special to be back working together again.

Since graduating from Medicine Hat College in 2016, I've completed my Bachelor of Health Science in 2022 from Thompson Rivers University and am currently finishing my Bachelor of Social Work with the University of Manitoba. Combining rehabilitation and social work has given me a unique perspective, allowing me to support not only a child's development but also the emotional, social, and environmental factors that influence everyday life.I believe every child deserves to feel understood, capable, and celebrated for exactly who they are. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-based, and focused on helping children discover their strengths while working toward goals that matter most to them and their families.

Therapy should be fun! My sessions often involve laughter, movement, imagination, and yes... sometimes playing dinosaurs, building forts, or having a dance party. I believe the biggest growth often starts with the smallest victories, so you'll find me celebrating the little wins just as enthusiastically as the big ones. My goal is for every child to leave feeling successful, confident, and excited to come back.

🎶 Outside of work, you'll usually find me spending time with family and friends, listening to music, enjoying local festivities, or laughing over a good conversation.

We are excited to introduce Teanna James, who has recently joined the team at Aspire Wellness and is offering counselling services for individuals of all ages.

Welcome! I’m Teanna, a dedicated and compassionate counsellor committed to supporting children, youth, parents, and adults as they navigate challenges and work towards meaningful change and healing. I am a Registered Social Worker and hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina.

With over seven years of experience in the mental health field, my professional journey includes clinical social work within health systems and community settings, both locally and internationally. I integrate evidence-based practices with deep listening and respect for each person’s unique story. Together, we explore life’s challenges within a confidential and non-judgmental space to work toward clearer understanding, self-compassion, and sustainable growth.

My counselling approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities to meet each person’s unique needs, goals, and stages of change. These approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy (SF), as well as strengths-based and play-based strategies.

I have experience supporting individuals with anxiety, ADHD, depression, behavioural concerns, emotion regulation, stress, life transitions, and the impact of trauma. I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, flexible, and responsive, adapting tools and approaches to honour each client’s lived experience, culture, and healing journey.
