Donna Grace MacLeod (MacDonald) - Morell
The passing of Donna Grace MacLeod (MacDonald) of Morell occurred unexpectedly, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown on March 25, 2026.
The youngest child of twelve, Donna “Red Hughie” was born in Souris on May 26, 1960, to the late Hugh Boniface and Mary Jane MacDonald.
Donna spent her childhood at “the lighthouse,” where she roamed the harbour and the capes of Naufrage looking for adventure. In her latest years, she roamed the roads instead, hoping to catch sight of birds and wildlife with her best friend and partner, Peter MacIntyre. Many a late-night game of cards was enjoyed with sisters, plenty of visits with friends and family, lots of tears and laughter and ups and downs. Through it all, Donna was happiest when she was with the ones she loved, humans and animals alike.
She was one of those people who would give her last dollar or the shirt off her back. A heart of gold while maintaining a stoic exterior that often shed silent tears for someone in a tough situation. Donna is survived by her daughter Sara MacLeod and granddaughters Carmen and Sydney MacVane as well as siblings: Mary Flynn, Wayne MacDonald, Pauline Carter, Barbara O’Hanley, Phyllis MacDonald and Eileen (Glen) Cameron and sister-in-law Jennie (Bernie) MacDonald. Predeceased by siblings and in-laws; Donnie, John and Peggy MacDonald, Dorothy and John O’Hanley, Bernie, and Gladys and George Mel MacPhee, John Flynn, and Henry Carter. Also predeceased by husband Francis MacLeod and nephew Tony Carter.
Donna will undoubtedly be reunited with her most special four-legged friends who she loved and cared for greatly: Woody, Tabby, Gregor, and Guinness.
Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell for visitation on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 3 – 6 p.m. Funeral mass to be held Monday, March 30, 2026 at St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church, St. Margaret’s at 11 a.m.
If desired, memorial donations can be made to the PEI Humane Society in Donna’s memory. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.

Marilyn Jane Ann Callaghan (Grant) - Cardigan

In Loving Memory of Marilyn Jane Ann Callaghan (Grant)

"To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world."

Peacefully, surrounded by family, the death occurred on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Kings County Memorial Hospital of Marilyn Jane Ann Callaghan (Grant), of Cardigan, aged 80 years. She is survived by her husband, Louis Callaghan, and daughters, Luanne Inman (Wyatt) and Alana Trainor (Charlie) and grandchildren Noah (Tionna), Gabe, Charlie, and Maeve. She also leaves to mourn her siblings, Eric (Mary VandenBroek) Grant, Joan (Errol) Flynn and Kevin Grant, as well as her brothers- and sister-in-law, Alan and Maureen Callaghan and Joseph Victor. Marilyn was predeceased by her youngest sister, Karen Victor, her parents Alex and Rita (Handrahan) Grant, mother- in-law, Dorothy Callaghan, and her nephew, Jeffrey Flynn. Marilyn leaves behind many nieces and nephews who considered her their paternal grandmother.

Marilyn, Marley, or Marl, dedicated herself to the children of the Cardigan community as she taught her entire career at Cardigan Consolidated. To her, "teacher" was not just a job title; it was a calling. She did not just teach reading and arithmetic; she taught confidence and kindness. Former students often recount how her classroom was a warm, welcoming, supportive space where students were encouraged to reach their own potential.

A devoted member of All Saints Parish, Marilyn lived her faith through action. Whether she was organizing a bake sale, serving on a committee, or quietly dropping off a hot meal for a neighbor in need, she was the hands and feet of her convictions. She never sought the spotlight, preferring the quiet joy of putting others first.

At the center of her world was her 52-year marriage to her husband, Louis Callaghan. Their partnership was a testament to devotion, weathering every season of life with grace, humor, and an unwavering commitment to one another. Together, they built a home that was always open, always warm, and always smelled of Sunday dinner.

Of all her roles, "Nannie Callaghan" was perhaps her favorite. She was a permanent fixture on the sidelines of every soccer field, hockey rink, flag football field, and most recently lacrosse field. Rain or shine, Nannie Callaghan was there cheering on her grandchildren with pride.

Nannie Callaghan is also fondly remembered by her grandchildren as they all were lucky enough to spend Tuesdays and Thursdays with her prior to their start of public school. They spent many hours reading on the couch, baking cakes and cookies, and having tea parties. Nannie was a master in creating crafts as well as capturing all their time together and making photo albums. They have many memories of spending time outdoors, attending the Cardigan Canada Day festivities, and dressing up with Nannie Callaghan. Nannie Callaghan also was a role model in so many ways. She taught kindness and love by living it.

Marilyn was the world to us, and her influence will continue to ripple through the lives of the students she taught, the community she served, and the family she adored.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Kings County Memorial Hospital for their loving care.

Visitation will be held at All Saints Parish Hall, Cardigan on Friday, March 6 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Cardigan. Burial will take place at a later date.

If desired, donations in memory of Marilyn to Kings County Memorial Hospital Foundation or All Saints Parish Cemetery Fund would by appreciated by the family.
