MULHALL, Reverend Gerald Thomas
Roman Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Hamilton

At the Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in his 98th year. Son of the late Patrick and Stella Mulhall. Loved brother of Myrtle Gorman of Mount Forest. Predeceased by his siblings: Helen Rice and husband Pat, Bill Mulhall and wife Dora, Eileen Murray and her late husbands Leo Murray and Vince Bolen, Patrick “Pat” Mulhall and wife Georgina, Lou Mulhall and wife Donna, Stella McCabe and husband Terry; and brother-in-law Jim Gorman.

Survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. Father Mulhall will be missed by the priests, religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Hamilton.

Born on November 16, 1928, Father Mulhall studied at Saint Augustine’s Seminary, Scarborough, and was ordained at The Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, Hamilton, on June 4, 1955. He served in the parishes of St. Mary’s, St. Ann’s and Holy Family in Hamilton, Sacred Heart in Walkerton and missions in Chesley and Deemerton, St. Martin’s in Drayton with missions in Palmerston and Harriston, Red Lake with missions in Ear Falls and Balmertown, Holy Rosary in Milton, St. John’s in Kitchener, St. Mary’s in Cambridge and St. Mary of the Purification in Mount Forest.

Father Mulhall will rest at St. Mary of the Purification Church, 310 Parkside Drive, Mount Forest, on Sunday, October 18th, with visitors welcome from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place at 8:00 p.m. Visitors are also welcome on Monday, October 19th, from 10:00–10:45 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Proton. JONES, Violet Mae (née Black) - Passed away peacefully at Strathcona Long Term Care, Mount Forest, on Friday, October 9, 2026 in her 88th year. She was born on August 27, 1939 in Orillia, to John & Myrtle (née Burgess) Black. She was the loving mother of Carole McGrath (Bob) of Hagersville, Wayne Wagg (Barb) of Cherry Valley, Doug Wagg (Michele) of Conn, Ken Wagg (Barb) of Kenilworth, and Tom Jones. She will be missed by her 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Violet is survived by her sisters Gladys Yeomanson, Dorothy Marshall, Mary Norton, and Betty Kingsland. She was predeceased by her husband Garfield Jones, her parents, and sisters Marion “Molly” Marshall and Edna Brown.
Violet enjoyed gardening, bonfires, and spending time outdoors. She took great pride in her work and was dedicated to always doing her best. Above all, Violet loved her family and cherished the time they spent together. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will take place at the graveside at Uxbridge Cemetery, 270 Toronto Street South, Uxbridge, on Monday, October 26th from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. England Funeral Home, Mount Forest entrusted with arrangements. SHARPE, Eric - It is with deep sadness, shock, and relief, that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Dad and Poppa, Eric Sharpe, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at home in Mount Forest after a quick decline in health. He took his last breath surrounded by love, care and his “girls”.

Poppa may not have been able to cast a line recently, but that never stopped him from sharing stories of his favourite fishing spot under the willow, his latest conspiracy theories, his political views, and, most importantly, how proud and thankful he was to have been given the chance to watch his great-grandchildren grow.

He will be extremely missed by his forever love, best friend and wife, Sharon (Riddell); his daughter, Terry Lynn (Baccin); his grandchildren, Mathew Johnson, Austin Sharpe (Adrienne Morrison), and Kylie Baccin (Nathan Post); and his treasured great-grandchildren, Paige Post, Phoebe Post, Wyatt Post, Benjamin Sharpe, Madelyn Sharpe, Brady Baccin, and Daphne “Ducky” Baccin. Though we will miss having him here, we find comfort in knowing that they have gained a new guardian angel.

His humour, kindness and stubbornness will be remembered by siblings Particia (Vittorio “Vic” Paneghel), Frederick (Carol), Bradley (Brenda), Stephen “Paul” (Lisa), in-laws, his many nieces and nephews and closest friends.

We find peace knowing he was reunited with his late son Steven; his brother, Joseph; his mother, Marion; his brother-in-law, Lorne Riddell; his sister-in-law, Marjorie Tilley (Riddell); and many others who went before him.

His memory will live on in the praise, confidence, support, and even the criticisms he left ingrained in our souls throughout our lives. And we know that every uncommon bird that appears, every squirrel that stops by, and every salmon we watch swimming upstream to spawn will be his way of reminding us that he is never going to leave us on our own.

No visitation or funeral will be held at this time. A small memorial for the immediate family will be scheduled for a later date.

Flowers and donations are not necessary. Instead, please take a moment to find the beauty in nature—and, if you happen to hook a salmon on your line, dedicate your next one to Poppa.

KERR, Edward Alexander

December 17, 1958 – September 19, 2026

Suddenly at Guelph General Hospital in his 68th year. Eddie was the youngest son of the late Gordon (2003) and Eileen (2010). He was predeceased by his brothers JD (1982) and Jack (2017). Survived by his brother Ken (Elaine) of BC, and five nieces and nephews.

A skilled woodworker and handyman, Eddie will be missed by many local residents who brought him furniture to repair, clocks to fix, lawnmowers and engines they couldn’t get to work, among many other jobs.

Eddie had a comical sense of humour, and anyone that met him would laugh hours later thinking about something funny he said or did.

MURPHY, Anne Elizabeth – Of Toronto, passed away at her home on Monday, September 14, 2026 in her 85th year.

Anne was predeceased by her parents Vincent and Madeleine Murphy; siblings: Daniel Murphy and his wife Muriel, Tom Murphy, Margaret Murphy, and Frank Murphy and his wife Fran.

She will be remembered by her beloved nieces and nephews: Anne Marie (Taylor) Lambert, Patrick Murphy, Michael (Patti) Murphy, Paul (Lucille) Murphy, Mary Margaret (Adam) Taborek, Katharine (James) Smith, Maureen (Joanne) Murphy, Peter Murphy (Ekaterina Riazantseva), Troy (Krystal) Murphy, David Murphy, Daniel Murphy (Vengielyn Relles); and their families.

She will also be fondly remembered by her many lifelong friends in the Toronto area and beyond.

Anne attended the University of Toronto, where she learned that famed Canadian Media theorist Marshall McLuhan asked the same question (about Walt Whitman) on every final exam. After graduating, she taught physical education at Central Commerce Collegiate (Central Toronto Academy), in addition to coaching a variety of sports ranging from volleyball to track and field. She wasn’t the most talented athlete, but she didn’t need to be. Sports were tools for building communities, for her, and developing friendships that lasted a lifetime. And her love for teamwork persisted, following her retirement, as she became a regular at card clubs in the greater Toronto area, making countless new friends playing Bridge.

Despite becoming a popular Torontonian, Anne never lost touch with where she came from. Every summer she would return to the family farm (in Mount Forest) to feed the cats, attend church, and get caught up on the local gossip. It was on this farm that she hosted many events, as well, bringing family and friends together to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays.

To say that Anne will be missed by those who knew her, would be an understatement.

She was an independent spirit devoted to her family and community who inspired those around her to live freely and joyfully. And she kept in touch with everyone, providing a steady stream of updates, ensuring that we didn’t lose touch with each other.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Mary of the Purification Parish, 310 Parkside Drive, Mount Forest, on Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the Mass, everyone is invited to the interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9375 Lover’s Lane, Mount Forest. MUCKART, Arlene – Passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at the age of 77.

Cherished partner of Dave Sparrow for 38 years. Beloved mother of Sherry (Frank) Facchini, and Ryan Muckart (Andrea Kmecza). Adored Grandma of Alaina and Marco Facchini. Survived by her siblings Jenny May Lowe, Dianne (Barry) Richardson; sisters-in-law Edith Brownridge and Janet (Rob) Radburn; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Jean Brownridge, brother David Brownridge, and brother-in-law David Lowe.

Arlene was a creative soul who found joy in painting, gardening, and spending time with her beloved dogs. Above all, she treasured time with her family, creating cherished memories through the simple moments they shared together.

Dorothy Matilda Waters (née Woods)
August 6, 1931 – August 31, 2026
Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Beloved wife of the late Wilbur Waters. Loving mother of Donna Bowden (late James Bowden). Cherished grandmother of Angie Tone (Corey), Jared Brown (Melissa), and Dustin Brown (Stacey).
Adored great-grandmother to Wyland, Marley, Alice, Clara and Jesse. Predeceased by her daughter Lynn Brown, her parents Edward and Jessie Woods, as well as her seven brothers and five sisters. Dorothy, also known as “Nanny” will be remembered as a strong, generous, kind woman and a real go getter. She was always on the go and worked hard well past retirement age, as a house keeper for many years in the Mount Forest area. Her persona was feisty, stylish and well kept, making sure not to miss a single Friday going to the salon to get her hair done. She was renowned for making a mean butter tart and if you were visiting at her home, you always left with a full belly. There are a lot of her sayings that would make you smile, laugh, and sometimes sigh. One was “it’s a great life, if you don’t weaken”. Certainly, Dorothy did not weaken and lived a long beautiful life. She will be missed by all who knew her. ♥ To honour Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private interment and gathering will be held. With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. MANION, Patricia Gertrude – Following a short illness, Patricia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Mississauga Hospital on Sunday, August 23rd, 2026 at the age of 82.

Dear sister of Leonard (late Theresa, 2024) Manion, and Mary (Ken) Mulhall.

Predeceased by her beloved parents Austin (1984) and Ursula (1993) Manion, and sister Elaine (1993).

Survived by her nieces and nephews: Mary Manion, John (Vicki) Manion, Leo (Nereda) Manion, Michael (Stacey) Manion, Gerald (Sheri) Mulhall, and Krystal Mulhall.

A longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Royal Canadian Legion, Patricia was also a dedicated crossing guard for many years. She took great pride in helping children safely on their way and was a familiar, friendly face in the community. In her spare time, she loved to dance and bowl.
