BEFORE AND AFTER!
These photos show a (rather poor angle) of a recent side project completed at a non profit long term care site in Parksville, BC.
I was hired through a grant to enhance a different garden courtyard in this long-term care home (photos to come!), but after being hired, we found a community grant that would fund another space that needed some love. Here’s what came to be in this space-
Pic 1: The before
2-3: Videos that feature an event we hosted- inviting community members, potential volunteers, and families to bring a plant and be a part of the planting
4-6: some of the lushness & joy of this garden as of now- late July!
Not featured: me ordering, beautiful raised beds, only to be told by the maintenance team that they are changing the siding on the entire building soon, at which point I had to get creative and establish a temporary planting solution rather than filling the beds properly….
And while I am not a landscape designer and this isn’t necessarily an aesthetic landscaped area, I can promise you that it is a therapeutic garden space- full of basil, tomatoes, gooseberries, dill, sage, florals, blueberries, lemon verbena, lambs ear, and more! (And built on a tight budget!)
