Wanna hear something crazy?! Did you know that over the course of your entire lifetime your mouth produces enough saliva to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool?! THAT’S CRAZY!! I guess that makes sense as to why the suction straw is used almost the whole time during your dental appointments!

Yes, that’s really true! Doctors have learned that there is a connection between the bacteria that cause gum disease and the inflammation that causes dangerous diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. The inflammation enters the bloodstream through the mouth and travels to vulnerable parts of the body. Good oral health is vital for good overall body health!

Welcome back to our “changing the stigma” Monday! Do you have young kids at home who are anxious about dentist visits? Play Dentist with them! Lie on the couch and get them to act as the dentist. Show them how a patient is calm and smiles and HAVE FUN! Normalizing trips to the dentist with everyday things like imaginative play, will help their little minds when it is time for the real appointments.
