🙇‍♀️If you are experiencing Persistent Post-Concussion Symptoms (PPCS)—where symptoms continue beyond the expected 2–4 week recovery period—you know how significantly it can interfere with work, school, driving, and daily responsibilities.

🥺Factors such as physical stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, or previous concussions can often contribute to this prolonged recovery.

🍃Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™ can be highly beneficial as an adjunct to your comprehensive concussion rehabilitation. ISTP™ is an evidence-informed, body-oriented therapeutic approach designed to address the physiological, neurological, and psychological effects of trauma.

🍃By focusing on nervous system regulation, reducing physical tension, and improving self-regulation, ISTP™ helps increase your adaptive coping capacity and restore functional health.

🙋‍♂️Ready to take the next step in your healing? You can book a consultation or session today by emailing us at: [email protected] or calling 604-880-8988.

🍃Perhaps you remember this sacred freedom from childhood, or perhaps you see it in children now.

🥲One moment, they cry with their whole being. Minutes later, 🤣laughter rises as naturally as breath 😮‍💨🫁

As we grow, we are often taught to quiet these natural waves—to be still, calm down, and accept only certain emotions as worthy of expression🫢 🤐

🧘‍♂️A Return to Our Natural Wisdom

Through ISTP™, individuals are supported in returning to their innate instincts and gently releasing the conditioning that taught them to hold back.

Why Laughter, Tears, and Silence?

When an experience is not fully felt, a part of it remains within us, waiting to be witnessed and released.

🥶When we suppress pain and tears, we often suppress laughter and joy 😀 as well.

Tears help old emotions move through the body. Laughter loosens what has been held tightly.

When both have done their work, silence arrives as a natural state of peace 🕊️

😱Nervous System Shift:

Crying can strongly activate the sympathetic nervous system, the body’s fight-or-flight response. Laughter then helps awaken the parasympathetic nervous system, guiding the body back toward rest, balance, and inner calm.

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️Have you ever felt laughter rise after a deep cry, as if the body were finding its way back to light?

👀Body Language:

✨The body speaks in the simple wisdom of opening and closing. When we close ourselves to tears, we may also close ourselves to laughter, joy, and peace.

🧠Shared Brain Pathways: Evidence suggests that crying and laughter are shaped by similar areas of the brain, which is why they can flow into one another during moments of intense release.

🤩This shift is natural and healthy, even if it feels powerful in the moment. It is the body remembering how to return to wholeness.

🤲The Healing Wisdom of Touch:

When physical contact is welcomed and safe, the body receives it like a quiet message of peace. Gentle touch awakens sensitive pathways in the skin that carry signals of safety to the brain, softening the body’s alarm response and easing the release of stress hormones such as cortisol.

🧘‍♂️In this calmer state, the body releases oxytocin, a bonding hormone that helps restore balance, lower the heart rate, and invite the nervous system back into a place of rest.

Oxytocin can be understood as one of the body’s natural remedies for connection, trust, and emotional well-being.

🍃For ISTP™, stress is often carried inwardly and processed somatically. Healing may come most naturally through grounded, body-based practices—through presence, sensation, stillness, and safe connection that gently remind the body it is protected, supported, and whole.

Somatic Release: This gentle, sustained contact can help the body release stored emotional or physical trauma, leading to deep relaxation.

Oxytocin Release: Welcomed touch activates the release of oxytocin, a chemical vital for human bonding and emotional well-being.

In ISTP™, we process stress internally and lean toward body-centred, spiritually grounded and sensory approaches to healing.

🤲When the body speaks what the heart has silenced❤️

When we turn away from emotional pain, we also diminish our capacity to feel the fullness of joy, peace, and love🧘‍♂️

🍃What we suppress does not disappear — it settles into the body, shaping our energy, our breath, and our sense of aliveness. Over time, unprocessed emotions can place strain on the nervous system and contribute to physiological imbalance.

🍃Releasing right-sided physical trauma requires safely completing the blocked "fight or flight" movements🤳 Because the instinct to flee or defend was originally impeded, the body trapped that unspent survival energy held frozen in the tissues.

🤲 Healing comes from gently "thawing" this freeze response through slow, intentional physical release.
