Our sweet Rosean is the July Resident of the Month 💕

Rosean was born on April 20, 1947. She grew up in Anoka and was the only child. During the summers, Rosean and her parents would travel the United States in their truck camper. She has been to every state except Maine, Alaska and Hawaii.

Rosean worked on the truck farm picking potatoes for 5 cents a day. She still has the first envelope of nickels’ from her first payday. She also worked at Leeds Drug in Anoka while attending Anoka High School. She was active in the FHA (Future Homemakers of America) and was on the Roosters Club.

After she graduated in 1965, she married Glenn Parks. They
were blessed with 1.5 years of marriage before he succumbed to Leukemia. Rosean worked at Mercy Hospital as a nurse’s aide for a few years before welcoming her first of three children. Scott lives in Sacramento, CA, Corrie lives in Chaska and Kelly (Shelly) lives in Blaine. Rosean is also blessed with 4 grandchildren: Emily 27, Jakob 26, Alivia 25 and Elijah 25.

Her hobbies have included knitting, being on a bowling league for many years and volunteering at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. She was pretty good at chauffeuring her children and grandchildren to many sporting events over the years. One of her proudest accomplishments was the almost 40 years she worked at Liberty Carton Company in Golden Valley before retiring in April of 2016. Since retiring she has enjoyed camping, puzzles, games on her
iPad and quality time spent with her family.

Rosean is known as the, “Hugger.” Feel free to stop in room 409 if you’re in need of a hug or just a cool place to cool off.

Our June resident of the month is Howard, affectionately known as "Shorty".

Shorty was born in 1946 and he and his twin brother were the youngest amongst nine siblings. He was raised on the family farm in Folden Township, MN.

Shorty attended school through the 8th grade before transitioning to full-time work on the family farm where he developed a lifelong work ethic. He met the love of his life, Jeanette, at a local dance and were married in 1965. Together they raised three boys - Gary, Doug and Paul. Their family has since grown to include two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

Although farming was an important part of his early years, he found his true passion in the construction industry. He had a deep love for operating heavy equipment and driving truck - a passion that fueled a career spanning more than 50 years. He ultimately retired as a truck driver with GMH Asphalt leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. For enjoyment he spent time camping in their bus, water skiing, fishing on the lake and horseback riding along the trails. He mostly enjoyed the excitement of dirt track racing, often sharing these adventures with Jeanette and the boys.

His love for outdoors, family and adventure defined the life he built and the memories he created. When Shorty is not enjoying the outdoors, he's kicked back in the recliner watching TV with a good snack in hand.
