Get your legs ready for hiking season 🥾
If you’re planning on hitting the trails this summer, adding some lower extremity single-leg exercises into your workout routine is a great way to prepare your body for the demands of some uphill battles.
Hiking requires strength, control, and stability — especially when navigating uneven terrain and those challenging downhill sections. We suggest you try adding some balance and stability work to help build confidence on the trails.
Swipe left for a few of our recommendations:
1️⃣ Single leg step ups – great for building strength and control for uphill climbs
2️⃣ Lunges onto a BOSU or balance board – challenge your balance and stability
3️⃣ Hamstring curls on a ball – help prepare your legs for the demands of the downhill
Keep it simple with 3 sets of 8–10 reps. If you want to make it more challenging, add some weight to your step ups or lunges.
A little preparation now can keep you out on the trails all season 👌
