Vitamin C is one of the most studied ingredients in skincare, and one of the most misunderstood.

When formulated correctly, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from environmental damage, supports collagen production, brightens the complexion, and gradually improves uneven skin tone. The key is not simply using vitamin C, but using a stable, well-formulated serum at an effective concentration. Applied each morning before sunscreen, it provides an extra layer of defence against the daily damage that contributes to premature skin aging.

Two of our favourite options are SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic®, ideal for normal to dry skin, and SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF®, a lighter formulation that is well suited for combination or oily skin, particularly during the warmer months. Both have become staples in many of our patients' morning skincare routines, especially for those concerned about sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines, or dullness.

Available in clinic and through our online store. Not sure which vitamin C serum is right for your skin? Ask us at your next visit or shop through here: https://bit.ly/4w55xav

Traditional facial or Vampire Facial? The right choice comes down to what your skin actually needs.

At Healthy Skin Centre, every facial recommendation starts with an assessment, not a trend.

A traditional facial focuses on cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration, ideal for maintenance and glow. Whereas a Vampire Facial uses your own platelet rich plasma (PRP) to stimulate collagen and address deeper concerns like texture, fine lines, and scarring.

We break down results, timeline, and who is a candidate for each on the blog. Read the full piece here: https://bit.ly/3TC4amd

Botox® is about more than smoothing wrinkles. At Healthy Skin Centre, we also use it to treat hyperhidrosis—a medical condition that causes excessive sweating well beyond what the body needs to regulate temperature.

Unlike normal sweating, hyperhidrosis often does not respond to even the strongest over-the-counter antiperspirants and can interfere with work, exercise, clothing choices, and everyday confidence.

Botox® works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that activate the sweat glands, dramatically reducing sweat production. It is most commonly used to treat the underarms, but can also be effective for other areas, including the palms and forehead.

If excessive sweating is affecting your confidence or quality of life, effective treatment is available. Learn more here: https://www.healthyskincentre.com/services/botox-for-excessive-sweating/

Many people live with spider veins for years before discovering how simple and effective treatment can be.

Sclerotherapy has been used for decades and remains one of the most effective options available. It involves a series of small injections, delivered directly into the affected vessels. The vein collapses, the body absorbs it, and over the following weeks it fades.

There is no surgery or general anaesthetic required, and most patients return to normal activity the same day.

If visible veins have been bothering you, a consultation is the right first step. Book via the link: healthyskincentre.cortico.ca/book/

Season changes, humidity shifts, air quality, even wildfire smoke, all of it affects how your skin behaves.

At Healthy Skin Centre, we factor every bit of it into our treatment plans for you to achieve your dream skin.

We adjust treatment plans by season, by weather, by what's in the air.

Case in point: every August, Dr. Lili proactively sees patients ahead of BC wildfire season, because smoke and pollution don't just irritate your lungs, they also trigger breakouts, inflammation, and accelerated skin aging.

We don't wait for the damage to occur, and treat proactively to get ahead of it. That's the difference in physician-led skincare.

Dark circles are one of the most common concerns we hear about. Unfortunately, it is frequently mistreated.

The issue is usually structural, and there are three distinct causes:

✨Skin thinning which allows underlying blood vessels to show through.
✨Volume loss in the tear trough that creates a shadow.
✨Pigmentation changes from sun exposure or genetics.

Each responds to a different treatment.

➡️ PRP injections work by improving skin quality and stimulating collagen in the area, gradually reducing vascular visibility.

➡️ For volume loss, tear trough filler creates more immediate correction.

Our physicians assess which mechanism is driving your concern and recommend accordingly. Sometimes it's both, and the best way to find the appropriate treatment for you is to book a consultation via healthyskincentre.cortico.ca/

Sunscreen is the one skincare step that does multiple jobs at once.

✨It prevents new pigmentation from forming.
✨It protects collagen from UV degradation.
✨It reduces the risk of skin cancer.
✨It preserves the results of every other treatment you invest in.

When it comes to mineral vs. physical sunscreen, we recommend mineral sunscreen formulations because they provide immediate protection and are well tolerated across skin types, including sensitive or post-treatment skin.

But the recommendation goes beyond UV filters alone. Formulation matters.

Medical-grade sunscreens are developed to sit comfortably on the skin without pilling, blocking pores, or breaking down under heat.

If your current SPF isn't one you enjoy wearing, that's a problem worth solving.

A common misconception about microneedling is what actually creates the results.

The benefits don't come from the needles themselves—they come from your skin's natural response to the precise, controlled micro-injuries created within the dermis.

Once these tiny channels are created, your skin activates its repair and renewal process:

✨ Increased collagen and elastin production.
✨ Faster cell turnover.
✨ Improved overall skin quality and texture.

As your skin continues to heal and regenerate, results can keep improving over the following weeks.

By stimulating your skin's natural renewal process, microneedling can be an effective treatment for acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and early signs of aging.
