Some seasons of motherhood are beautiful...
And some are simply exhausting.

If your child isn't sleeping and you're running on empty, I want you to know this: you're not alone.

The long nights, the endless rocking, the worry, and the overwhelming fatigue can take a toll on your mental and emotional well-being.

Be gentle with yourself in this season. It's okay to ask for help. It's okay to rest when you can. And it's okay if today doesn't look the way you hoped it would.

You're showing up with love, even on the hardest days-and that matters more than you know. 🤍

✨ Save this post for the nights when you need the reminder, and share it with a mama who could use a little encouragement today.

There is something uniquely humbling about being both a psychotherapist and a parent navigating the special needs parenting world.

I understand the clinical language, the systems, the recommendations, the referrals and the resources. But I also understand what it feels like to be the parent on the other side of all of it — advocating, waiting, worrying, researching, adjusting expectations, celebrating progress that others may never fully understand, and sometimes wondering how you’re supposed to keep carrying it all.

That lived experience has added another layer to the way I sit with clients.

I don’t assume that because I’ve walked parts of this road, I know exactly what someone else’s journey feels like. Every child, parent and family is different. But there is a certain kind of relatability that comes from knowing what it’s like when the school system doesn’t have enough resources, when services have waitlists, when appointments and medications and assessments become part of everyday life, and when the people around you love you deeply but don’t always understand the weight you’re carrying.

Sometimes parents don’t need someone standing safely at the top of the hole telling them what they should do.

Sometimes they need someone willing to sit beside them and say, “I see how hard this is. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.”

Being a special needs parent has shaped me personally, but it has also deepened the compassion, curiosity and respect I bring into my therapeutic work with parents and families navigating their own complicated journeys.

And perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can offer one another in this space is simply the reminder:

You are not alone. 🤍

A new diagnosis often comes with a whole new language.
IEP. ASD. OT. PDA. Executive Functioning...
If you've ever left an appointment or school meeting wondering, "What does all of this mean?"-you're not alone.

That's why I'm starting a new series to explain common autism, ADHD, and special needs terms in simple, everyday language. My hope is that these posts help you feel a little more informed, a little more confident, and a little less overwhelmed.
Because understanding the language is one of the first steps to confidently advocating for your child.

✨ Is there a term you've heard that you'd like explained? Leave it in the comments

Sometimes connection begins with simply feeling seen, heard, and understood. 🤍
Take a moment today to reflect: when was the last time you felt truly connected-to yourself or to someone else?

📚 Back to School = Back to Routine

As summer winds down and schedules begin to fill, it's a great time to think about your mental health routine as well.

Whether you're a parent navigating the transition back to school, a student adjusting to new expectations, or an adult settling back into a busier season, having consistent support can make those transitions feel a little more manageable.

🗓️ My fall schedule is now available in Jane!

If you'd like to continue therapy through the school year, I encourage you to book your appointments in advance—particularly if you prefer after-school or evening appointments on Mondays and Tuesdays, as those times are typically the first to become fully booked.

✈️ A reminder that I'll also be away from September 19–October 12, 2026 (inclusive), and will return to the office on Tuesday, October 13.

If you'd like uninterrupted support during that time, I'm happy to arrange a temporary referral to a trusted colleague while I'm away. Otherwise, we'll simply continue our work together when I return.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. I look forward to supporting you and your family through another school year. 💚

📅 Appointments can be booked anytime through my Jane booking page.

Dear Mama who's overwhelmed... 🤍

I know it can feel like you're carrying the weight of the world.
The never-ending to-do lists, the constant decisions, the mental load that so often goes unnoticed-it can leave you feeling exhausted and wondering if you're doing enough.

If today feels heavy, I want you to hear this:
You don't have to do it all to be a good mom.
Your children don't need perfection. They need you-your love, your presence, and your care. And even on the days when you feel like you're barely holding it together, you're likely doing far better than you give yourself credit for.

Be kind to yourself today. Ask for help if you need it. Take a breath. Rest when you can.

You are enough, Mama. Always. 🤍

✨ Save this post for the days you need the reminder, and send it to a mama who could use a little encouragement today.

✈️ Extended Absence Notice

To my wonderful clients,

I wanted to give everyone plenty of notice that I'll be out of the country from September 19 through October 12, 2026 (inclusive) and will not be offering psychotherapy sessions during that time.

I will be returning to the office and resuming appointments on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

If you're currently working with me and would like to maintain consistency in your therapeutic journey, I strongly encourage you to book your appointments before my departure and shortly after my return, as those appointments tend to fill quickly.

For clients who feel they may benefit from support while I'm away, I'm happy to arrange a temporary referral to a trusted colleague. Just let me know, and I'll do my best to connect you with someone who is a good fit. Otherwise, we'll simply pick up where we left off when I return.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding, flexibility, and continued trust. It is truly a privilege to walk alongside each of you, and I look forward to continuing our work together after I return.
