Truly the thing that makes us feel like the a bad ass therapist until we realize we have no memory of what we said 😂🫠

08/05/2026

Not to oversimplify things……Because I could talk about this for hours and Instagram is a highlight reel but

- Your dysregulated nervous system? Not broken.
- Your struggle with disordered eating? Might be a coping strategy.
- Your battle with an eating disorder and trauma? Didn't come from nowhere.
- Your fear of getting close with other people? Totally makes sense.
- Your trauma response? is a form of protection.

In the health and wellness world we see more and more people villainizing symptoms and dysregulation as if it's some moral code.

The truth is these patterns and symptoms develop in response to everyday things that happen in life to all of us all the time.

The workaround for healing is not to become perfect or forever regulated or to never experience a symptom ever again.

It's to re-write the stories that built up the symptoms, patterns, or beliefs that are blocking us from a life that feels more fulfilling, safer, and grounded in who we really are.

Instead of villainizing what you're struggling with, maybe allow yourself to be curious and compassionate. These symptoms, triggers, or patterns are often your most potent roadmap to your greatest healing.

If someone is invested in you being broken or damaged, they likely have something to gain from that narrative.

Healing cannot exist in isolation but that doesn’t mean you need to outsource your inner wisdom to someone else. You are your highest authority, healing is reclaiming the power to connect back with yourself in deep ways to allow for your life to be an expression of your truth.

At Healing Recovery Centre, we believe you deserve more than one way to heal.

Many people come to us after trying therapy before and feeling like something was missing. Not because therapy doesn’t work, but because healing is rarely one-dimensional.

Our approach is holistic, collaborative, and personalized. We take the time to understand your unique story, challenges, strengths, and goals, then work alongside you to create a plan that fits you.

We offer a wide range of therapy approaches including:

✨ Individual Therapy
✨ Couples & Family Therapy
✨ Child & Youth Therapy
✨ Eating Disorder Support
✨ Trauma Therapy
✨ EMDR
✨IFS
✨ Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT & EFFT)
✨ Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
✨ Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
✨ Somatic & Mind-Body Approaches
✨ Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy & Preparation and Integration Support

But therapy is only one piece of the puzzle.

When we say “you deserve more than one way to heal,” we mean that healing can happen through conversation, movement, connection, creativity, community, education, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation.

That’s why we also offer:

🌿 Breathwork
🌿 Yoga & Movement Classes
🌿 Wellness Workshops
🌿 Nutrition & Dietitian Services
🌿 Reiki & Energy Healing
🌿 Community Events
🌿 Professional Consultation & Education

Because healing isn’t about fitting yourself into a treatment model.

It’s about finding the combination of supports that helps you feel safe, understood, empowered, and connected to yourself again.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, grief, eating disorders, life transitions, or simply looking to deepen your wellbeing, we’re here to help you discover what healing can look like for you.

💛 You deserve care that sees the whole person, not just the symptoms.

When your highly anxious friend starts therapy and you remember not all therapist are the same 😂

Also talking the entire time because you’ll do anything to avoid actually feeling the feels … that’s me in my own therapy, thankfully Elizebeth always calls me on my BS 🤦‍♀️

The classic “How do you feel about that” 😂

I’ve got to work on how I flip out at my kids

We hear this all the time. Parentings coming into our session rooms, exhausted, doing the most and yet the shame they hold is suffocating.

Being a good parent doesn’t mean you never yell at your kids, you’re always zen and “regulated”.

Parenting is about showing up even when it’s messy, acknowledging the moments that didn’t go or feel the way you wanted them to and realizing that you actually need to tune into yourself and tend to your nervous system before the mental load becomes too much.

There’s no easy hack or shortcut to parenting… It’s just hard.

So give yourself grace, know you’re not the only one struggling with this, and even that 2 min pause in the midst of the chaos can be the 1 degree of change that keeps you aligned with the parent you truly are.

Did you know we offer parent coaching? In group and individual formats. It’s actually one of the things we do best around here.

Struggling in parenthood? Let’s talk.

I may be speaking from experience on this one 🙄

We hear so much about attachment style these days, and often it’s not the full picture.

But what I do love about getting curious about this is that it can show us our internal roadmap for questions like

“Can I depend on people?”
“Will they stay?”
“Am I too much?”
“Do I have to earn love?”
“Is it safe to need someone?”
“Will closeness hurt me?”

Based on gut response or reactions can tell us so much about the beliefs we hold subconsciously that, without awareness, dictate how we show up in almost all our relationships.

Remember: nothing’s wrong or broken within you - it’s simply just a protective strategy that potentially needs the newer version of the software downloaded… Something we humans are not naturally good at doing.

The caveat to this post:
I love Instagram and the ways we can educate and connect with people through this platform - it’s also super unhelpful to paint all people with broad strokes without context. A list of similar symptoms or behaviours is not a diagnosis or assessment.

So if you relate to this video, then get curious about that, don’t take on the label as truth because context and the season of life you’re in play a big role in how we show up in our day-to-day lives.

Should we do the other attachment styles?

We know what we do makes a difference in people’s lives, but every time we hear

“I didn’t know therapy could be this helpful.”
“I feel so grounded after our session.”
“I tried that thing we talked about, and it worked.”
“Changes are happening in my life that I never thought were possible.”
“Things that have been hard for years are getting easier.”
“I finally had that conversation, and it didn’t go as badly as I thought.”

And this list goes on.

This is what I love about our team at HRC: we aren’t just offering you a service or a session; we are invested in your journey, we are celebrating alongside you, grieving with you, taking trainings and doing supervision to enhance our work together, taking time for ourselves so we can show up fully for you.

We know deciding to reach out for support isn’t just an easy one, and sticking with it is a whole other battle at times. We are here right beside you; you aren’t just another client around here.

Okay… I need to talk about this one ✨🍄
Because I hear it all the time: “psychedelic therapy is a magic fix”
And I get why people think that…

Yes, psychedelic therapy is definitely magic in so many ways. I’ve watched it facilitate deep, profound change.

But what I see most often are shifts and changes that build over time, with intentional reflection, small daily changes, and hard conversations. After a session, you may not feel like a completely changed person… but the 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month check-ins are always my favourite.

This week was a perfect example of that.

Two clients I supported in the context of psychedelic-assisted therapy several months ago resurfaced and shared what’s happened since their session.

They shared just how much has changed.
They spoke about looking forward to life and feeling hopeful about the future. Achieving goals they never imagined were possible. And sharing that they truly feel they’ve accessed recovery, something they didn’t even consider was a possibility.

This is what I love so much about working with psychedelics in the context of therapy and healing.

I get to witness the unfolding that people never thought was possible.

I get to watch people remember and reorganize their connection to themselves, the stories that govern their reality, and begin to dream again.

So no, it’s not a magic pill.

But if you can nurture the possibilities and lessons that become accessible through the process, you may just find yourself looking back months later and realizing everything has shifted in ways you never imagined.

Grateful 🤍
