Morse & Son Funeral Home - Morgan Funeral Home Morse & Son Funeral Home

Owned and operated at the same site by only two families since its founding in 1826, the Morse and Son Funeral home has a rich and colourful past dotted with characters and traditions that are distinctly Canadian. Some of the original furnishings, newspaper clippings and correspondence, dating back to the 1800's, grace the building today, providing curious reminders and proud reflections of 160 y

ears in the funeral service. This is a history treasured and willingly recounted by the Morgan Family, a part of that history since 1971.

Yet again another sad day of losing a valued member of our work family. Eugene R.T. Oatley UE died peacefully in the presence of his family on Tuesday at the Greater Niagara General Hospital after a very brief illness. He, along with his late wife Pat, were avid genealogists having researched the Oatley family back to the United Empire Loyalist family of Christian Warner. Not only had Eugene served as an evening greeter for our funeral homes from 2012-2020 after his retirement as vice-president of administration at Niagara Plumbing Supply, he was a longtime volunteer within our community having served as a past-chair of the Chamber of Commerce Niagara Falls, Canada, but also as a past-president of the Rotary Club of Niagara Falls and a past-chair of the Niagara Falls Rotary Club Foundation, and as a member of the United Church.
Godspeed to your Eugene, may you rest in peace knowing how much you meant to your family,, your friends, your community and to all of us in your work family. Once again our flag shall be lowered to half mast in honour of Eugene's life until after his funeral service on Saturday. Ernie MorganMartha Ellen GleddieKristin PatersonJames Arnold

Looking to share that funeral director Ernie Morgan is celebrating a professional anniversary of 20 years of qualifying and obtaining (and continuing to annually qualify for) his CFSP designation as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner. This was a personal journey to achieve this goal, fostered by 2 longtime funeral director friends in Ontario... Kent Milroy and the late Grant McKenzie who encouraged him to be among the first 5 funeral directors in Ontario to achieve this designation. it is awarded by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice to funeral service practitioners that have accomplished educational, professional, and community oriented goals and to recognize funeral directors who continually strive to raise and improve the overall standards of the funeral service profession. Join us in congratulating Ernie!

Today we lowered our flag for one of our own. Dear Isabel Garner, a member of our work family died peacefully at 92 years of age this past Sunday after a brief illness. Isabel, Izzer, Izzy, Pumpkin, Gramma, Bella, and a host of other nicknames sum up Isabel's role as our "house mother" at Morse & Son Funeral Home. She resided over the funeral home on Main Street for nearly 29 years, taking night calls, notifying funeral directors on call, security guard checking the windows and doors every night (until several weeks ago), and for many years as receptionist for visitations. Isabel baked cakes for many of our birthdays and made sure many of us had homemade shortbread every Christmas. Her presence every day within the funeral home is and will be dearly missed. God speed Isabel. We will "take" the night call from here. Rest easy our friend.
